I love this song. It's about being conflicted about, from what I can tell, addiction. About wanting to be clean but not being able to or something...that's what I always got from it. She's trying to pull him back to it: "She doesn't know her own area code/She's the picture of a heart of gold/On the edge of depression unknown". She clearly has a problem, and then the guy with the trenchcoat and cocaine...I don't know, that's what I always got from it. It's about being conflicted, not knowing which way to go. But if not even they know, then perhaps I'm wrong. |
