I enjoy putting this one on when I'm on a plane in the midst of taking off. Seriously. No, I don't suffer from flying-relating anxiety. Also, I think this is a beautifully written song, emblematic of A's rather unique abilities. |

I am addicted to this one minute and twenty-four seconds' blast of brilliance. Chasing each other and taking turns is a good thing. |

"i couldn't see the love and affection,
it was camouflaged as a jungle of erections."
`Favorite line in a long time. The reason to listen to this song, nah, the entire album. |

A good pair of shoes can help in the confidence department. As for the song not being about shoes, consider the following snippet from an Austin Chronicle bit by Christopher Gray on the `Sweet Weaponry' album that features this song:
[...] Today her goal is to broaden her lyrical perspective beyond personal relationships, and points to several songs on Sweet Weaponry as evidence of her success. The opening lines of "To Be Quite Honest" suggest an awakening political conscience, and "Vermont" plays up the similarities between the music business and high school both places, the author notes, "you still want to be popular." First single "Goodbye Daily Sadness" is about a favorite pair of shoes.
"I heard some rapper write a song about his hooded sweatshirt, and things he had gone through with it," she says. "I just thought it was the coolest idea." [...]
Ergo - shoes. |

Some sarcasm is rather obvious (who out there really wants to emulate an awesomely trained monkey?) some is not (my own comment on the matter, apparently) I suppose ;-) |

The sheer density of great turns of phrase and the cerebral ferocity with which Judith rails against entropy as it finds reflection in mass-produced, lowest-common-denominator consumer goods and media is dumbfounding. Definitely their signature track on `Die Reklamation.' |

I also do think that we can accomplish anything, just like awesomely trained monkeys, as long as we want something enough. If that's not a rallying call to go out and do something with oneself, I don't know what is. |

| Wir Sind Helden – Die Zeit heilt alle Wunder Lyrics

`Die Zeit heilt alle Wunder' and `Müssen nur wollen' give me goosebumps every time; Judith's voice affects me the most during these two cuts from Wir Sind Helden's debut.
I think `Die Zeit heilt alle Wunder' is also a subtle plea or perhaps even challenge to slow down and make an effort to perceive one's environment with fresh eyes, ears, nostrils, fingertips, what have you. Or to not be so blassé and jaded, perhaps. |
