Goodbye Daily Sadness Lyrics

If I could break this wall down,
it could be my foundation. The start of me.
Breaking the mold that I created.
It's good to have goals but
I've got transportation and some comfort along the way.
I was never aware of the albatross
of a stunted bantamweight.
Added a few more inches. Fresher air now
I'm a bastion of strength.

And I'm standing over seven feet tall.
Now I'll never be scared at all.
Splendid what pair of shoes can do.
And as dim as it sounds...
What an awakening.
And it's Goodbye Daily Sadness.

Danced on my tiptoes.
Couldn't stand the feel of the ground
'til I found you made of something from a factory downtown
And you never let me fall,
running around running around.

And I'm standing over seven feet tall.
Now I'll never be scared at all.
Splendid what pair of shoes can do.
And as dim as it sounds...
What an awakening.
And it's Goodbye Daily Sadness.

Should I let my self depend of this?
But you hold me paramount.

A good pair of shoes can help in the confidence department. As for the song not being about shoes, consider the following snippet from an Austin Chronicle bit by Christopher Gray on the `Sweet Weaponry' album that features this song:

[...] Today her goal is to broaden her lyrical perspective beyond personal relationships, and points to several songs on Sweet Weaponry as evidence of her success. The opening lines of "To Be Quite Honest" suggest an awakening political conscience, and "Vermont" plays up the similarities between the music business and high school both places, the author notes, "you still want to be popular." First single "Goodbye Daily Sadness" is about a favorite pair of shoes.

"I heard some rapper write a song about his hooded sweatshirt, and things he had gone through with it," she says. "I just thought it was the coolest idea." [...]

Ergo - shoes.

it's not about her shoes; can u actually write about shoes? if u read into the lyrcis and have some brains, u might figure out it's about hte feminine need of a supportive friend that'd raise her confidence and stuff

This could be about shoes, definately. Shoes that give you confidence and make you feel invincible. Hehe. This might be just because I'm a teenage girl, but my self-image for the day depends strongly on if I like how my hair looks that day. So like, if I like how it looks I'm like "HELL YEAH I CAN DO ANYTHING TODAY" because it gives me a lot of confidence.

Like shoes. Ass-kicking shoes. Kick some ass.

Depression due to lack of self confidence and the question of whether to depend on an object like shoes to give you the strength to break out of your cycle.

Big honkin' pair of shoes.

Sometimes don't dig deeper than what the song gives you to work with. Sure, this song deals with both the topics of self-confidence and depression, but it's about being really happy about a pair of awesome shoes.

These shoes allowed her to move freely around at shows, see the bands, and yes, gave her confidence. They never let her fall, running around, running around. The object of the song is the shoes, and how a physical thing was able to lift someone's spirit.

This is truly an inspiring song. Yay. yay.
