| I can't believe ganjjjjj is the only one who mentioned tripping. It seems so obvious... | |
| The Fire Theft – Carry You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| By far? Bah! I'd argue that from Heaven to Carry You are the best. | |
| Immortal Technique – Peruvian Cocaine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| "Llello" is the original way of spelling it. "Yeyo" and everything else is just the anglicized version of the Spanish (Cuban?) slang. | |
| N.W.A. – Express Yourself Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Yeah, I thought there was some irony in Mr. The Chronic rapping this, but chemwar makes a lot of sense. I didn't read all of the lyrics, but at least one line is a bit off: "I got rhymes in my mind, and better like an embryo." It should be EMBEDDED like an embryo. Doesn't that make more sense, anyhow? |

| Kanye West – Never Let Me Down (feat. Jay-Z & J-Ivy) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's funny how no one was giving J. Ivy any credit until 1alill's comment. His lyrics and flow far surpass Kanye's and Jay-Z's, but sadly the intelligence he drops is probably too much for the average listener. I am an atheist, but even I can appreciate this song. It's one of the strongest on the album. |

| Lil' Wayne – Lollipop Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Not just oral, 267. This song is dreadful but I can't seem to get it out of my head! What is the significance of Hilary Rodham [Clinton]? Any ideas? |

| Recover – Light Up The Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| Recover – Don't Let Love Pass You By Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Amazing? Yeah right. Useless filler track. I always skip it. | |
| Recover – Crashed Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Over two years later and I'm still the only one to comment. I retain my original position, with the exception of my opinion of the type of high. |

| The Sugarcubes – Birthday Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is magnificent. Has anyone heard Jonah's (Onelinedrawing) cover? I was listening to this song for the first time today and I thought, "Gosh, this sounds familiar..." Funny I'd hear the cover before the original..and funnier still that my taste in music is weird enough to have heard both. lol |

| The Spill Canvas – The Tide Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Every bit of this song is inflected with poignant emotion. It's hard to listen to the song and not be affected by it in some way, be it tears or contemplation. Anyway, I don't have any deep take on it. I think it's relatively straightforward. Their father is a deadbeat and leaves them, rendering their mother bedridden (metaphorically...but I think it means she's depressed and becomes completely wrapped up in herself. It is likely she goes to ends which further remove her from attending to her children [addiction]). The children cope with the loss in different ways. Veronica and Dade are affected the most. I think Veronica tries to compensate for her lack of love with boys and becomes entranced in that. For some odd reason, Vada doesn't seem to have much of a role in the song... I don't get it... But anyway, Dade is the thinker of the bunch, and probably the most afflicted by his absent father and mother absent in all but physical presence. He contemplates the nature of love and sees how deep it must be if it destroys his mother so (I also think he was the closest to her because she whispered the "advice" to him and no one else). He becomes consumed in thoughts like these. I think the tide is merely whatever causes them to lose their innocence (too quickly, I guess). |

| Immortal Technique – Leaving The Past Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"I hate it when they tell us how far we came to be as if our peoples history started with slavery" "I'm not controversial, I'm just speakin' the facts Put your hands in the air like you got the heat to your back and shake your body like a baby born addicted to crack And since life is a gamble like the craps tables at Vegas I freestyle my destiny, it's not written in pages" "I'm like the Africans who came here before Colombus and from the 15 hundreds until after the model" I love how some of the people who put these lyrics up here don't know a drop of Spanish and fuck up on easy things like "craps tables". rofl |

"Fulla hatred, pressin a button trying to eject me But I don't got no motherfuckin deal with Pepsi" "Word the fuck up nigga, like we invaded niggas cuz we want to free them You racist motherfucker, you don't give a shit about those people" ^ Simple and to the point. I like. |

| Immortal Technique – Obnoxious Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Fuck...this is so sick: "I choke your friends in front of you, to prove that you fallen off and you won't do shit about it, like the church during the holocaust" "I throw your gang sign up, and then I'll spit on my hand give me a hundred grand, give me your watch, give me your chain that's your girl, bitch get over here, give me some brain" "but you know what the fuck I think is just pathetic and gay when niggaz speculate what the fuck 'Pac would say you don't know shit, about a dead man's perspective" "Immortal Technique, I made this the bump in your ride or burn it off the internet, and bump it outside" "like pro lifers, that support the death penalty and don't talk about war, when niggaz know that you're pus a fucking hypocrite draft dodger like George Bush" Do you think he's homophobic, though? If he is, that'll just be too bad. *continues to listen* |

| Recover – Crashed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I could have sworn that it was "come watch me break apart and disintegrate". It sounds to me like coming down off a psychedelic high, but the "you will be mine bit" sort of conflicts with that. I'd love to see others' opinions on this. I'm shocked this awesome song has no comments before mine. |

| Underoath – Innocence Stolen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| They were better back then compared to everything they made after Cries of the Past. Even so, Cries of the Past is their best album. The lyrics to this song are kind of cheesy, but this song sounds great and has a good message. I love old Underoath!! | |
| Bullet for My Valentine – All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me) Lyrics | 19 years ago |

don't forget the part in the beginning where he's like...let's do this shit, baby lol i love this song soooo much. the lyrics are so simple, and maybe even crude, but they contain so much emotion, you can't help but love it. |

| The Snake the Cross the Crown – A Brief Intermission Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
not sure if these are right, but this is what i hear: A mother went up to the mountain, she said it was for gold, but all these drums and indians, oh no. Said Buddy was a good boy, but just not for me, come on now pack your bags, time to leave. But ma, are you dead, are you free from this life you've lead, for such red faced men, oh ma', oh please don't leave. Back to the city in high heels, gold rings upon her hands, get up son, it's time to run, jump, and land, in a wagon with no wheels, no place to go. She just smiles and nods her head, a welcome home, but oh those mines can't you see, we're just much too deep for your sins, though you buried them beneath the mountain top. Where are you going with your coonskin boots? Oh I just want to be with you. I know you never said that you would stay, forever and it's getting late. Oh I don't wanna be a broken boy, so sad, alone, and oh so coy. Oh why you gotta be so goddamn cruel? Oh I just wanna be with you, but do you? A mother went back to the mountain, she said it was for love, But all those mountain men are buried with their lust, and her gold rings. |

| The Snake the Cross the Crown – A Brief Intermission Lyrics | 19 years ago |

this is not the version of the song on mander salis. anyway this song is amazing, as is the rest of the album to put so many styles of music on one album is simply incredible. it freshens things up quite a bit. i would have loved to hear an album full of songs such as this, however. |

| Bloc Party – Luno Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i like death from above 1979 i'm listening to the cover now and it's a bit of a watered down version, except for in the vocals (i prefer bloc party's better, but i like the singer's extravagant drawl). the cover is by no means terrible, though. as for the vocals, the singer did a fairly good replication from the original, except of course the suave british accent. ;) and i thought of teenage rebellion, conformity (hah, should be an oxymoron), peer pressure, and cocaine. |

| Northstar – Two Zero Two Lyrics | 21 years ago |

May i start by saying, j'adore this song? That said, i have some interpretations of it that you may disagree with, but feel free to do so. :D "What’s this odd game that’s all over the airwaves? It’s their loose lips that laid me so sick with and ear pinned down on your chest… And all I heard were sighs from that shotgun that she hides so well under that dress My my what an awful mess…" I'm thinking that this could mean that by the airwaves, that word could be spreading that his girlfriend is pregnant by another guy (and perhaps is claiming it as his), and the very thought of her cheating on him made him sick. And the shotgun hiding under her dress could be the baby that she's carrying, perhaps she's starting to "show" a little bit, but hides it well. "Does that dress fit alright? I wanna know why it falls off and on Are you ok baby?" I'm thinking that maybe she finds out that he has found out about her cheating and decides to try and make it up to him by random acts of pleasure. Instead, he's mildly interested and is blowing it off by asking if the dress fits adequately. And the "are you okay" bit, I think he's asking that because he wants to know what is wrong in the relationship, or what's wrong with her that makes her have to cheat. "I’m a cabaret A Champaign café Everyone uses to celebrate But I’m just not ready to rot and dance and laugh to the sweetest death I ever had…" I think he's saying that he's been used many times by many girls, and he's not ready his all in a relationship again. Maybe there is a touch of apathy here in the whole cheating factor. "My my you look awful with a mouthful Of sex …like drugs" I'm thinking he's saying she's a whore, and he's finally seeing her for who she really is, which is making her ugly (in character, beneath the skin). "but I just can’t seem to switch off this machine That turns ivory into kerosene" And I'm thinking this means that (he is beginning to feel badly about her cheating again) he feels that he is at fault for her needing to cheat, that he is doing something (involuntarily or not) that turns beautiful things (ivory) into disasters or less-desirable things (kerosene). "I’ve got glass eyes that has dined so many times with thighs and sighs that scream I got to get mine..." And at this point, he's getting drunk (glass eyes) thinking about bad cases of love. Perhaps saying that his eyes only look at the external things (thighs) instead of personality, so a lot of his relationships fail. Like his relationships are driven by lust, and ultimately he falls in love with the girls, but his feelings are unrequited. Just my thoughts. |

| Son, Ambulance – Kaite Come True Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Is it "dress is" or "tresses" swinging in the piano? Hmm... Anyway, this is a lovely song. I fell in love with it and it had been stuck in my head all last week. At first I thought this was a Bright Eyes song since it was labeled as such, (yes, from a p2p) but upon hearing the song, I knew it couldn't possibly be Conor. As stated by LoXish, Conor Oberst sounds nothing like Joe Knapp. My favorite part is "The fabric of your invisible body being sewn with music". You can imagine how odd it must have been to just break out saying that during the day. ^_^ I think the song is about Kaite, a woman in a movie he is watching, and how he wants her to materialize from the movie, and perhaps he goes back to reality and correlates her with someone else on the part about the roses and the "don't be so quick to curse them". I dunno, whatever it is about, I love it. |

| Son, Ambulance – Maria in Motion Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i love this song, especially when he sings in spanish (though he could work on trilling his r's). easily the best part is the "look up at the sky, my love. a stationary bird" and its spanish counterpart. | |
| Straylight Run – Existentialism on Prom Night Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| the song is profound and moving (it sort of gives me a hollow feeling thinking about me graduating from high school) but i think it was better on the demo (as were some of the other songs). it really makes you think, and plus i learned a new word (though the meaning of the concept has myriad perceptions). | |
| The Starting Line – Hold On (The Piano Song) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This song was certainly not the first I'd heard from TSL. I didn't like them much to begin with; I thought they were too whiney/poppy (which is odd because I am a fan off pop-punk, which tends to fit into the aforementioned; with a few amazing exceptions) and a bit generic. However, somehow I got ahold of this song and I loved it instantly. The lyrics are deep and heartfelt, and are reminiscent to the death of a loved one. I guarantee it will evoke some sort of feeling of sadness or understanding regardless if you have ever lost someone close to you. Somehow, even with the lyrics being quite simplistic, there is amazing depth to them. Ken's voice is so much better in this song than all the others I have heard, it's more mature and less...whiney? The piano is really what pulls this all together, great song, great song. And what's with all the Konstantine references? There are more examples to give for sad piano ballads. |

| Poison the Well – 12/23/93 Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This was the first song I heard from them and it was and is my favorite. I would assume it is about the death or isolation of/from a loved one; I have never any speculation about the motive behind this song, but what has been said seems very accurate. | |
| Taking Back Sunday – You're So Last Summer Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| not to be obscene or anything, but does anyone else think of fellatio when the "but these grass stains on my knees they won't mean a thing" bit is played? clearly the quote is from the significant other, and i can't stop wondering about what she was doing on her knees...? but perhaps this is just some sort of figurative language. this is a good song, btw. just don't wear it out, folks. | |
