Kurt was late getting to the recording studio, so dave and the guys wrote this song and for some reason it ended up on the album. You know I think you are both right to a degree. What I see this song as meaning is this guy loves this girl but he can't open up to her enough, can't love her as much as she deserves because he sees her as so amazing.(I will give you all I could ever give Though it's less than you will need) He is just so scared of it all, he is looking at an wondering if there is something wrong with him or is he just being stupid.(An enigma wrapped in a mystery Or a fool consumed by fear?) Later he realizes she likes him and she knows he likes her and he still can't say it. He tries to come up with things and reasons so he doesn't have to care but they all are absurd and stupid(And for every useless reason I know There's a reason not to care) so he finally asks her if she can ever forgive him for not being able to open up to her.(Could you just forget if you can't forgive All the things I cannot concede?) This song caused me to think. To think about the fact that in the next year my group of friends, all of us are going to be headed off to who knows where to pursue our dreams. That means leaving our town and the life we know. Its a scary thought change is. JadedOne is totally right with their last line: "Yeah, this is how it's always going to be. Me, my friends, my family, my job." But eventually that wears out and you realize you need to move on just like everyone else has. "It's easier to leave than to be left behind." That is what we all want to think. That we can stay right here forever. But we can't. Its sad but it all gets better when we do go on and meet new friends and new places. |

| This song is just about the end, end of life, end of a job, end of a legacy, a time, everything. It is very profound and powerful. And I do agree that although it talks about only fred that it is about life, about everyone. I don't think that everyone is meaningless in life. I think that this is more about how Fred sees himself. We all may feel useless and like we accomplish nothing but everyone has an impact on someone else's life, maybe not immeadietly but sometime down the road something you did or said will be remembered or have a purpose to someone. | This song is a beautiful song, it is also very disturbing. The double meaning is creepy and sad. Cause when he first says it he means it as in he is so glad to be off work that he really isn't thinking of her then when he is dying he actually is thinking about her and how much he loves her and will miss her. | This is about religion, no doubt there. Its about someone, not necisarily dryden, who is not sure about being a christian but trusts in it and believes in it but just needs some sign from god to make it concrete. It also sounds like god is talking to him to with the telling him "remember who built your home, I built you flesh and bone" trying to get him to not doubt, just believe with his whole heart. I guess I can see what ya'll are saying, except for the whole suicide angle, but anyway I have always viewed it as a guy who is breaking up with a girl cause he sees that she doesn't like the relationship anymore and it upsets him but he loves her so much and wants to see her happy it doesn't matter to him. And although she doesn't want the relationship anymore its hard for her but he tells her don't worry about it. She never see this though and is just upset by it all. Its in there I think, just read the lyrics: "I want you to be free Don't worry about me" then again i may be wrong but to each his own. |
