I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I guess I can see what ya'll are saying, except for the whole suicide angle, but anyway I have always viewed it as a guy who is breaking up with a girl cause he sees that she doesn't like the relationship anymore and it upsets him but he loves her so much and wants to see her happy it doesn't matter to him. And although she doesn't want the relationship anymore its hard for her but he tells her don't worry about it. She never see this though and is just upset by it all. Its in there I think, just read the lyrics: "I want you to be free Don't worry about me"
then again i may be wrong but to each his own.
