| Modest Mouse – Pistol (A. Cunanan, Miami, FL. 1996) Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| All the people who hate this song are crazy! It's pretty fantastic. I like it more each time I hear it! It kinda weirdly reminds me of All Night Diner or something similar. | |
| Modest Mouse – Pups to Dust Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
I really like this song. "The way we feel about what we do is by who has watched us, so..." SERIOUSLY. SO GOOD. |
|
| Modest Mouse – Coyotes Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| Man is destructive and dishonest about it. | |
| Modest Mouse – The Ground Walks, with Time in a Box Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| This album is like listening to a musical version of This American Life. Little snippets of so many small and sometimes creepy aspects of things that are happening and have happened. This is a nice album. Very different from anything before, but that's no surprise. | |
| Modest Mouse – Ansel Lyrics | 10 years ago |

"The last time that you’ll ever see another soul Nah, you never get to know No, you don't know" Wowowwow. |

| Modest Mouse – Of Course We Know Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| This song is simple and beautiful. God, I love this band. | |

| Iron & Wine – The Trapeze Swinger Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I wish I could hear the rest of the story. I wonder what happened to this couple in the last five years. | |
| Modest Mouse – From California to Houston (with The Six Parts Seven) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this isn't a modest mouse song at all, cowboyxkailey, so you won't find it on one of their cd's. try looking up six parts seven. :D | |
| Modest Mouse – Blame Yourself Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| thanks for the website! that's really great. | |
| Kaki King – Life being what it is Lyrics | 17 years ago |

| Modest Mouse – Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
all of the irony and paradoxes in this song just hit me the other day. i don't know what it all means, but i was excited to find it! here's some of what i saw, but you could almost fit every line into this pattern. "oh noose/ tied myself in, tied myself too tight" -if you think about the purpose of a noose, especially one that you are tying yourself into, there's no way that it could be TOO tight. that's the whole point; if it wasn't tight, it wouldn't work. "looking kind of anxious in your cross armed stance" -normally, when you take a cross armed stance, you are exuding confidence and stability. the very word stance implies a sort of sure-of-yourself connotation, but here the person is anxious. "talking shit about a pretty sunset" -okay, this is a pretty obvious one. who would ever badmouth a sunset? "changed my mind so much, i can't even trust it/ my mind changed me so much, i can't even trust myself" -it's kind of ironic that someone could not trust their own decisions and self because he or she self-reflected, learned, a changed opinions. i dunno, i dunno. it might not even mean anything, but i just found it all interesting. :) |

| Modest Mouse – From California to Houston (with The Six Parts Seven) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| technically...this is not a modest mouse song in any respect. because the only part of modest mouse in the song is isaac brock. i mean, it's a really great song, but it's purely a six parts seven song. but whatever. there's a bunch of ugly casanova lyrics in the modest mouse section too. :) | |
| Thao Nguyen – Geography Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i've always associated it with a long distance relationship, but here's what thao nguyen has to say about this song on daytrotter: “A more straight-forward song about wanting someone—badly. You know those people who you are certain will fuck your shit up, but you try for them anyway. This song is hard to play live because I can’t ever hear my guitar line for it and sometimes I confuse my fingers. Also, Adam sings back-up on this one, and goes much higher than I can. A curiosity, for sure.” |

| Elk City – You Got Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
my intial response to this is that it's about a person who cheated on her significant other? and wants to get back together with them exculsively. "don't need an orchestra to hum a tune. this time aorund, well, ony two will do" that's where i get it from. haha. i dunno! |
|
| Ivana Xl – Sweetie Pie Lyrics | 18 years ago |

i'm going to listen to the song again and edit this, but the order of most of what you put up is incorrect, so i won't TOTALLY be using what you have posted. maybe you have a live version? i know i transcribed mine from the original album version, sooo.... anyway, thanks for pointing out some errors. |

| Dr. Dog – The Pretender Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i'm pretty positive that it's this kid is right about everything except the last one. i'm thinking you're right that it's 'we've been soaked too long to care or complain.' also, i thought it was 'we don't need the MONEY' not morning. |

| Bishop Allen – Corazon Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| Bishop Allen – The Same Fire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this is a nice song. i'm loving his sound. | |
| Modest Mouse – King Rat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the concert was, in a way, weird though because 75% of the songs were from Good News. i think we only heard dashboard, fire it up, missed the boat, we've got everything, and spittin' venom [as an encore] from the new album. it was a confusing concert, haha. | |
| Modest Mouse – King Rat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i don't think you can buy this track yet. i just got a bootleg version online.... i'm not sure though. it will, however, be on the ep that they are releasing later this year. that's what i hear anyway. in any case, i really, really enjoy this song. it has an amazing sound. i saw modest mouse in concert the other night, and after an aaaamazing extended version of spitting venom, the rest of the band cut off , and the audience was dead silent, and isaac just stood there with his hands behind his back speaking out the 'lucky lucky lucky me' part of this song. [that's what it sounded like to me anyway] it was awesome. sorry for the pointless anecdote. :D Even crooks have to pay the rent!! |
|
| Modest Mouse – Fire It Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |

yes, i think modestmousenirvana actually posted this. like way back sometime in the middle of february. but i like the r.s. interview! but this one needs to be deleted. |

| xim, you are a dr. dog fan as well? wowow, i'm impressed by your good taste. | |
| Modest Mouse – March Into the Sea Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Oh oh oh! new thought! "Well, this coffee you bleed Like the leaves of a tree Ahaha! Ahaha!" what if that is: Well this CARBON you bleed Like the leaves of a tree Ahaha! Ahaha! doesn't that kind of make sense? |
|
| Modest Mouse – March Into the Sea Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
ok, this may sound a bit crazy, but i think i heard something when i was listening to this last night. "If food do you please And you sack all the seas And it off Suck it off" i kinda heard: If food do you please And you suck on the seeds And then off Suck it off |
|
| Modest Mouse – Fly Trapped in a Jar Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The last "pardon, pardon" needs to be changed to "of part and parcel" too. and xim is right. he says "so every single one of us fed the ground" not "hit the ground" |
|
| Modest Mouse – March Into the Sea Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
whoa, this song is very hard. one thing i actually thought i could understand is that where you have "move your tune" i was thinking he said "move your tail." which seems to make a little more sense to me, considering that part is kind of a culmination of all the previous verses. but that's just me. but oooh my gosh! could the way this song sounds make any less sense? haha, i mean the saxaphone part and "if food do you please".... whoa. personally, the gist of what i'm getting is that isaac is still very interested in overdevelopment and feels slightly guilty for the shape of our environment. Cut me down like the trees Like the lumber or weeds Drink me out of the sea And then teach me to breathe Give me forests so dead I wish death on myself that part kind of sums it up for me. he seems to be saying that we take so much from the world and are so responsible for its destruction. |
|
| Modest Mouse – Florida Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| actually i don't know if it says cattlehold. | |
| Modest Mouse – Invisible Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i wasn't even going to attempt to try and figure out this words. shoot. good job. | |
| Modest Mouse – Steam Engenius Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i hear calf, too. i was having all sorts of revelations today about the lyrics. and i definitely hear calf, not cat. but wow, this one was so hard to understand. good job on the rest of it! | |
| Modest Mouse – Florida Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
so, cruising along to this song today, i figured it out! after: "i wasn't always cargo" he says: "i was once cattle hold" and xim: he does say "does deserve to die" after that last reference to the ant empire. |

"well you were talking soda pop you were talking quite a lot the opinions that I do not give the opinions I aint got" WHITE LIES, YELLOW TEETH. |
|
| Modest Mouse – Dashboard Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| it was all over the place a couple of days ago. most places like myspace deleted the sites that were offering downloads. my friend gave me a couple of tracks off of limewire...maybe there are still some there? i don't know. it kind of came and left really quickly. | |
| Modest Mouse – Dashboard Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
oh please, oh please everyone...don't make this into float on part II. the comments for float on are just one endless discussion on whether modest mouse sold out or not, and whether it matters if they did or not. dooon't do this to dashboard! pleeaaase. what i love about modest mouse is that none of their cds have ever been the same from any that came before it. each on has its own personal feel and story and i believe that good news and now we were dead are no different. they are an amazing group that has constantly re-done and outdone everything that they do. if you really love modest mouse, you will be able to support them no matter what music they make. i am so happy just to be getting new music, and i gotta say this song is definitely growing on me. |
|
| Modest Mouse – Little Motel Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
this song is beautiful. it's what i can only call a love song, and it's really the first i've seen from modest mouse. besides, of course, the cover of sleepwalkin' [and i find myself considering baby blue sedan a romantic song sometimes heh.] it really is beautiful, though. |
|
| Modest Mouse – Spitting Venom Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i am so in love with this song. i like how white lie, yellow teeth makes an appearance in this song. and it's nice to see them bringing back the looong, 8+ minute songs. just a couple of really small corrections that i saw: "if you truly knew the gravity you'd know witch way to go" haha, just change witch to which. "well we went downtown and we sat in the road" road should be rain, i think. "well I walked real stiff and I can't hit the ground??? your gonna hit the ground its over??? well its over??? its over" what i got out of this [and it's really difficult to understand, so i have to congratulate you even trying :D] was well we walked real stiff and i came inside the ground you hit me with yours and said 'pull yourself together' it's over oh it's over but i would listen to that again yourself and don't take my word for it. that part is so hard. that was really all i saw beside some very minor word placement in the last "you were spitting venom" verse. GOOD JOB. this was a hard song to do by ear. |
|
| Modest Mouse – Fly Trapped in a Jar Lyrics | 19 years ago |

yeah...who is gary? i was wondering that too. good song though...i love the guitar-as-fly at the beginning. amazing. and i agree with ICameAsaRat...if you got the cd as a leak, remember to BUY IT. if you love mm you'll do it. :D |

| Modest Mouse – People as Places as People Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Ugly Casanova – Things I Don't Remember Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i think it's definitely "every hand was dipped in subliminal sand" like someone said before. but then again i haven't heard this song in a couple of weeks, so i'm not 100% sure... but i'm mostly sure. :D |
|
| Dr. Dog – I Can't Fly Lyrics | 19 years ago |
