Agree w/Amazing Bob... kind of reminiscent of "Missing You" by John Waite, but you're all probly too young to remember it.

Greened, I only discovered this band recently and they are quickly becoming one of my favorites. This is the first song I heard of theirs and is my favorite. I have a couple of different ideas about the lyrics but won't share them with you until I'm sure... I haven't quite decided yet the meaning of the song. I just bought their Cannibal Sea cd. Have you heard it? |

I agree with amcgary as to the meaning of the song. It blew me away the first time I heard it. I described it as Fleetwood Mac meets The Doors with a little Jeff Buckley thrown in. I can't stop listening. So far it's one of my top ten favorites of 2007. It prompted me to by the cd. |

This song is my theme song. If you knew me, you would agree. It's quirky, endearing, a little off-center but way fun and cool. Was the first of many many favorite Mat's songs for me. |

I couldn't quite figure it out, myself but this sounds like a reasonable explanation. I'll keep that in mind when I listen to it. One of my favorite CS songs. |

Agree with TTTR. Maybe "under heaven's skies" makes reference to the fact that he worships her as like religiously. At any rate, who wouldn't want someone to write a song like this for you? |

Coheed, thanks for the info. I was thinking it could be about Anyone you love and care for. The satellite reference made me think that someone was being loved and cared for from a long distance... |

I have been listening to this song for weeks without knowing any lyrics. Even without knowing what it's about, it takes me to another place. To a calm and mellow place that I love to be. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Soul Meets Body Lyrics
| 20 years ago
|
I have an online relationship with someone who's come to mean a great deal to me. We've shared our souls and hope to meet "bodies" one day. If we would, I would imagine it to be much like the "clean, new, warm (sun)" feelings the song talks about. I often send thoughts to my friend which only he can appreciate and understand (to the Greyhound station). Should we meet and start a life together, it would be much like washing our hands (of our pasts) and starting clean. If we both have roads left in our shoes, then that means some travelling for the both of us. The whole song ties in to our situation except for the "silence" taking us, I haven't figured it out yet. What's really cool is that he has brown eyes :-)
I doubt if Gib meant anything remotely like this when he wrote the song, but this is what it means to me. (us) |

I know the exact song you're talking about, I can see the video but can't remember the band. There's a girl, kind of a big girl in a short skirt and strawberry blonde hair in a kind of mohawk... I'm thinking the band consists of a brother and sister? |

Short of being priviledged enough to enter Bono's mind (omg, can you imagine!?) we have to accept that only he really knows. All these interpretations are interesting and just the fact that so many people can find solace or whatever in this one song is a tribute to Bono's abitlity to speak to the masses. |

Hadn't listened to Zooropa in years, in fact, bought it before I was a fanatical U2 fan. Recently started lisening to it again and can't quit. Agree with junners about it being underrated. I, unfortunately was never a Cash fan until after he died. He's awesome and you should definitely give him some listening time if you loved the wanderer. |

| Paul Westerberg – Dyslexic Heart Lyrics

Upon further ponderance (that a word?) I'm curious about how much power a man gives a woman in this situation. Seems he's frantically trying to "read" her, almost like a parent tries to interpret a baby's cry. I could never understand women who give men mixed messages, as if there aren't already enough communication problems between the sexes. And what I could never understand about men is why they put up with it. Let's ask Paul, genius lyricist that he is... :-) |

Agree with you up there. Explain to me though, he's seeing with his heart (not eyes or brain or organ) -that tells me he already loves her (or wants to) or would be "seeing" her with something else. Tell me, since you're a male and I'm not, would any of this even matter if he didn't have feelings in his heart? PS If you really want to understand, read Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus by John Gray, PhD. |

This song has to be the most ultra-true story ever told. Who hasn't been there and felt all those feelings? First time I saw the video I got tears in my eyes. One of Paul's best works. I have the dvd of his performance of this song on Letterman and it's awesome if you can block out moron Paul Shaffer's off-key crooning in the background. |

| Paul Westerberg – World Class Fad Lyrics

I truly believe Paul refers to "the world class fad" as looking fantastic in his/her gasket casket (at least the thing still runs). Makes more sense to me than cast-off casket and sound like a really cool way (true to Paul's form) to refer to a car. |
