I think its also important to pay attention to the line that says "and I will be quietly standing by, while slowly I am dying inside," as well as the one at the end that says, "and tell me somehow I'm going to be alright." It's hard to say, but I don't think that she is the only one that's depressed here. That first line that I quoted comes before any mention of her being depressed at all - maybe that's not the message of the song. |

kind of reminds me of Vertigo. He wants a perfect love, but he can't have it, so he tries to force his ideal on this girl... I don't know, I may be way out there, but it has its similarities. |

I freakin' love this song. I first heard it on the Practical Magic soundtrack. As for meaning, I think maybe its about living out our lives without meaning... Just going through the motions without putting any heart into it. I just love that last verse. |

I think this song is about losing love. The verse that begins "but shades like shadows, only last a matter of space and time," is definitely about being torn apart. I don't know, though. I mean that verse just screams that to me, but there are other parts of the song that seem to say he wants to be with her forever. Maybe she left him and he can't let go. |

speechwriters are amazing - I wish more people knew who they are! I love the line about Mona Lisa in this song... This song is all about how everything in our world has changed. Nothing lasts anymore, especially love. We're all trying too hard to fill empty space with posessions and money rather than things that are actually important. I like how the chorus transforms too - it goes from a justification to a lack of caring... like he doesn't feel he has to justify it anymore, he wants to take advantage of the moment. |

He says, "I wish there could be more just like you," but if there were more, it wouldn't be the same. Then she would just be like everyone else. |

I love how he says he's at his house, but he wishes he were at home. That's how I feel right now. Home has nothing to do with where your house is or anything like that. Its all about where your friends are... okay, to be cliche, its where your heart rests. |

well if you think about it, the rocketship could be taking him to heaven. I mean, if the classical view of heaven is in the stars, then his rocketship is taking him there. |

Of course the love he talks about is fake. He asks the girl to pretend to that they're in love again - that gives it away right there. Besides, movie love is never real love. You can always predict the end of movies like that, but you always wind up believing it. No, real love isn't like that. Real love has problems. Real love is gritty. |
