I submitted the lyrics you saw a day after this episode aired, it was an abbreviated version of the song and the closed captioning said the lyrics were as such. Now that the Dethalbums's out I've changed it to the full version. Thanks. |

This solo is great. Oh, sure, there are lots of shredders out there that can play fast, but how often do you come across a melodic shredder? Brendon's style is... unique.
Is this even Brendon though? I read the Wikipedia article on Dethklok and it said it was Sam Totman from Dragonforce that played this. Seems possible, but it's been edited since then. So I guess it is Brendon.

So... Uh, the subtitles when the show starts says the beginning really is "do anything for dethklok", turn your subtitles on next time if you don't believe me, or anyone else who tells you. After that it's "i'll teach you who rock" not "I'm ticking for the dethklok".
Has anyone noticed the intro has changed a little bit since the show aired? Maybe the lyrics were different at first... I dunno... but for now those seem wrong. |

I was always impressed by the abilities of guitar players in the power metal genre... the one thing that kept me away at first was the singing, it sounded so corny. I got past that though and the voices don't bother me at all anymore, I even find myself singing along. |

Not gonna get it from Trivium on this album, or at all if they decide to not use harsh vocals again. I doubt that though, all this backlash for not having screaming is bound to make them write a song or two in a future album or whatever. |

Matt learned how to sing, and liked not damaging his vocal chords, the end.
Seriously though, this album just kinda grew on me after a while, I wasn't feeling it at first... then it clicked. It's actually a pretty solid album if you just give it a chance. |

Actually, the Japanese release of Ascendancy got a re-recording of this song as a bonus track
As for the meaning of the song, quoting Matt himself (and taken from triviumworld.com):
"There are many who fight for the freedoms that we have today, and for each there is an opposing negativity- albeit person or personal obstacle. As long as we each stay true to what we are, and fight for what we are- we will never lose."
oh and another thing, the jap release also had another bonus track not released in the US, "Washing Away me in the Tides" |
