converge are so god damn amazing. anyone who thinks they aren't talented is only hearing the "music" and that's all. it seems most "mainstream" bands' content these days all lies on the very surface. sort of like soap film over a clean bath. once you part the surface matter away, there's nothing beneath. for converge, once you clear away the dirt from the top, you'll find more and more beneath. the art, the unique instrument fashionings(ie: vintage tube amps, home-made crates, etc.), the deeply personal lyrics that aren't written to rhyme and "appeal", the ever-changing patterns in the musics structure... it goes on and on. you can't say a band needs work when they've already got their work out on 10+ years worth of recording/shows/fanbase. quit being ignorant. |

this song, i think, is about taking back yourself from the confines of religion. it's not for everyone. while it helps some, it inihibits others. how can anyone say that we all must follow one thing through life? people are so diverse. it's evident in the amount of motor vehicles out there. if two people can't agree on the same type of vehicle, why must they concur in religion? just leave people alone. |
