this song is deffinatly about the fact that nothing can be done about the obvious fighting that goes on in our lives. He comes to tearms with the fact that there is nothing he can do about it. The part about cousin greg is saying that this kid is insecure and makes fun of other people. The "Carpet" is his overlooking of his own flaws. The part about lou is admitting that he is also a victim of pretending not to see that he himself is turning into another person who cannot do anything about reality. He sees the neighbor playing with the shotgun but just smokes to ligthen the load of understanding the world. "This dude" is refering to a man who "his eyes are wide" is in a daze about what is actaully going on in reality and continues his routine. At the end of the song he is admitting his frustration with settling and accepting the world as he sees it. By saying "These are my freinds...this is how we stay" he, agian, is realizing that there is nothing he can do about his lonely existance or anyone elses. These, though, are just my opinions, and there are many more comments i could make about this song...but I will spare you the time of reading it. You get the point, anyway. |

I love how hatered can be so fufilling. I belive Chris is saying that someone has poisoned his heart and the only revenge is to kill them. The problem is the poison doesnt subside even in death becuase the ghost of the girl haunts him forever. And he will never forget the lesson he learned. It's kinda like 'How can you forget someone you can't forgive?'

I really like the mom cancer interpretation by arainrhod, its great to see someone make a personal realtionship to a song. Anyways, i think this song is sarcastic and witty. Refering to a girl who rejected him. The way that he says yellow is just so sarcastic sounding. Her skin and bones turn into something beautiful but he realises that she isnt beutiful on the inside. The stars is refering to people who look up to her bc of her physical beauty.

The World is decaying with each person who is born into it. He even admits to being a victim. I think he is saying that once we are born we are conformed into what might as well be death. ((asleep in your grave)) aka society. I love the contrast b/w the first and last lines of the song. I think that they can be intertwined as the whole of socitey is sucked into one perpetual hole which only we can destroy.

I think this song is a peaceful transformation. Though, it may be viewed in many different ways. I think he is killing one part of himself to move on from something that has been haunting him. This song is about facing your troubles (Peel back my skin and look at myself shaking and shivering) not running away from them and killing yourself.
