I don't agree that the relationship's end was due to the guy's "fakeness" and "lies." I think it's about a guy who is so worn out from failed relationships, then the girl comes along and sweeps him off his feet - she doesn't seem like all the rest. She represents hope for good love. However, little does he know that she, too, has had many failed relationships (sounds like because she's been lied to a lot or mistreated). She has a hard time believing he won't turn out like the rest, so she calls his love a lie and puts him through tests, trying to make sure his love is real. He tries and tries to prove to her he means it, but it exhausts him and he eventually has to give up because there's only so much a person can do - this turns him into that "liar," but it's inevitable when only one person is all in. So, yet again, it's another failed relationship. After so many bad relationships, he gives up on love - hardens up, and becomes apathetic and hopeless. The end.
Basically, it's just like a girl who always accuses a new bf of doing something bad, because she's had many bad experiences in the past. The guy will eventually tire of trying to prove himself to her, and just give up, thus creating a cycle of jaded people that no longer see true love as something possible. |

I'm thinking that the song is being sung from "the other woman's" perspective. She feels stupid/silly for falling for a guy that was taken, when she so clearly understood that "affairs never win." That's why he comes in during the chorus to say he didn't want to say goodbye - maybe he has a wife? kids? or just simply can't get out of a relationship because too many eyes are on him. She is his "dirty secret" from the second stanza. At first, I was in denial of her being the one he's cheating with, but it's still sad, I suppose. Who knows why he cheated or why he can't just be with this girl. |

I think it's beautiful that she can still remember and appreciate the love between her and her first love, despite him leaving her. Most people become bitter, question the love they felt, and just overall want to forget the joy so they can move on. It makes the song so sad and so sweet. |

My Chemical Romance sucks hard. However, this song is decent enough to attract me. I blame it on the video because the singer makes the BEST sad faces and he's pretty cute in make-up. Same with the pretty girl. ..Aside from that, I find it hard to beleive that this is about his grandmother. The girl in the video is his age which leads me to think it's his dead girlfriend/friend. ..and it also sounds like she pulled that famous emo-suicide. "we are the very hurt you sold" & "like a blade you stain" yeasurefine. it could be FOR his grandma? but definatly not ABOUT her. |

To me, the song is about a girl who realizes that she's growing up. The butterfly represents the child ...careless and free and the dog represents what she is becoming. "She roll back down..with a little tear in her eye. she had to try." translates- she misses the comfort of childhood. |

my half-assed assumption: somebody broke his heart and he needs to get away from the pain so he takes this girl (maybe she admired him or she just came into his life) and pretends that she's his past love because with her, it's new and beautiful...like most beginnings are. so in a way, he forces her to kiss his booboos away. |

"It's only right.." and "It's only me" are the parts that get to me. Her voice is so damn beautiful.
But so yea, the song kicks ass. Talks about guys who lose their lovely because they want other lovelies then want the original lovely again because just cant seem to get a grip on what it actually means to love a person truly. |

I thought for awhile that the lyrics were more "Your love is a verve.." either way, it is about "making love." I think it's a fantastically beautiful song and I'm glad it's not the typical asstittiessexassmoretits type of song. Instead of stating that he met a girl at a party and fucked her, he goes deeper into the romantic connection they have. I sincerely wish I was this guy's tractor beam destination. |
