My interpretation of this song is as follows. the singer is in a relationship in which he is happy and devoted to the other person, but maybe is still not ready to take it up a notch to marriage, or perhaps having children. I infer that the other person has either left him, or is indecise about continuing in the relationship because of this. His message seems to be, "please let's stay together, we're meant for each other, but I just can't give you what you want right now."
I'm curious, does anyone else see the song this way? |

I think this song is about the singer speaking for both him and the soul mate who is "out there". In the 3rd verse where he speaks of people going long, and going deep, I understood as that's the intensity of relationship he and the soul mate are looking for. then in the 5th verse where he describes "someone is out there looking for a heart, a home, etc." drives home the point, that there is another out there looking for the same type of connection with someone. the mental pic I get is imagining 2 people trying to find each other in a large crowd. As for the references of a possible prev. relationship, I agree it's possible but this is merely the impression I get and what the song means to me. So again briefly, the singer is looking for another person with the same emotional intensity to have a relationship with. |

my general impression of this song, is that the singer/protagonist seems to be morose and maybe difficult to be with, but beneath his negative exterior, he is very secure in how he feels about the other person. |

I believe this song is about having a positive attitude in your life. Life doesn't own you, and no matter the hardships you encounter time will smooth things out and happiness will come around again.
Also, there is the indirect reference about things that give you much joy in life are also coupled with the pain of their loss, but that is the nature of life, so roll with it, enjoy the memories of the good times and, soon you'll be happy again. |

I think the song is about a guy who's relationship with the girl was ended because of something bad she did, possibly cheating or left him for another, and he is in agony.The crucifiction reference, to me is a metaphor, Christ suffered for the sins of others, hence the charachter's suffering is brought on by the "sins", (negative actions) of another, in this case the girl. |

What I interpreted, is that the protagonist is stifled by those surrounding him, and has contempt for those in authority who are implied as being corrupt. I also think this character considers it pointless to try and "escape" his current situation since neither extreme, represented metaphorically as "life or death", e.g. conformity or rejection is appealing. |

I think this song is about a shy guy in a bar/club, who is longing for the attention of a girl who is oblivious about his feelings.
It makes sort of think about The Smiths, "How soon is now?" |
