| yeh i kinda agree with every one, i think in the first verse hes with this girl he likes but isnt ready to settle down and have that mundane life of doing laundry and feeling stuck in the mere, second verse explains his real dreams of becoming a star and hes torn between the two. perhaps the 'no you'll never say goodnight' is saying that he can't end this relationship because hes still torn and hes just leading her on and letting her down | |

| the album is based on 'the age of spiritual machines' at this part of the album machines have taken over and humans are left to try and survive on their own, but theyve become too dependant on machines and are not equiped.it just creates an image of surviving humans not knowing what to do next. | |

i think this is part of the story that this album is based on (the age of spiritual machines) where the machines humans have made have becomes a reflection of ourselves and i think the song is sung from the perspective of a machine. the machines are made to help us 'made to heal' and in this song they are still dependant on humans 'i fell back on you because i need more time' the first few lines suggest this machine may have tried to rebel against humans but failed. the lines ''i defended you for this ones last time, for the nerves you abuse'' suggest the machine doesnt like humans because they dont appreciate life and harm themselves through drugs etc. , and wont work for them any more. as the album continues it shows the machines do take over :( |

i think that 'nyx's interpretation was pretty good but i feel like the song must be about something sadder, so i was thinking that maybe a family member had died and someone decided to clear out their room or house, thinking it would help them move on, but imogen didnt want them to. "When busy streets A mess with people Would stop to hold their heads heavy" - i think this refers to when people stop to show resect when a funeral car drives past. "The takeover The sweeping insensitivity of this" - imogen finds it completely insensitive of the person to jus clear out the dead persons things when imogen is so upset about what has happened "Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cutouts Speak no feeling, no, I don't believe you You don't care a bit" - the person is probably throwing cliches like 'you have to move on' and imogen is upset because she doesnt feel like they knew what she was going through because they didnt care as much as she does. (also all the self explanitory references to moving and someone living their before which i won't bother commenting on) but "hide and seek" ? maybe shes saying the other person is trying to hide her from whats happened by removing all reminders absolutely stunning song! |

| i do agree this is a political song but i also interpret it as being about a relationship ending and wondering whether you made the right decision or whether youl wake up one day alone blaming your younger self for throwing away the best thing yu ever had. i find all the lyrics fit with this interpretation.awsome song | |

well i've read a couple of times that 3cheers for sweet revenge is a concept album about bringing your dead girlfriend back to life by killing 1000 evil men - so if thats true then you can easily see what this songs about. -begins with him killing loadsa people in a restaurant, -mentions his girlfriend - 'this pain in my heart for your dying wish, i'll kiss your lips again' - goes to jail for it but i think that pretty much covers the idea in 1 song so i dont know what hes going on about for the other 12 tracks :s lots more references to killing people etc. absolutely awsome album though!!!! |
