| i perceive this song as being about the suffering of depression...the references to being in the dark and such. the lie part is like denial - not admitting you have a problem. the parts about holding onto those who love enforce the idea of needing support and love to get through the issues. being a former sufferer of depression - all of these lyrics made sense to me as applicable to the stages of depression. | |

i see this song similarly to in5years to me, a girl had a love and it has visually dissipated. yet, she still feels something in her heart though her mind has moved on. she is afraid that he was 'the one'...that she will not find another like him. but for now, she is waiting to see if it was a mistake to leave her previous lover behind or if she is yet to find that true "one sweet love". |

wow...just heard this song for the first time and i love it...so beautfiul & so powerful. what i love about mirah's songs is i can relate to almost all of them...this one i definitly can. i think its about someone who just doesnt really know what they want so they keep going around trying to figure out what it is that they want. she is saying, just stay put for a while and it will come to you. this person is so sure they will find it that they are starting to feel let down, discouraged, and desperate for not finding. it's as if they were so sure of everything that they are now sure of nothing. this is what i think...what's everyone else think? |

I am just starting to listen to Mirah and this is, by far, my favorite song. i was also curoius as to what others thought it meant. i do agree about it pertaining to love but i , as well, see it a little differently. here goes... i relate this song to my current situation. both these people care about each other sooo much...they know each other so well it's as if no matter what happens they will still be together (whether they are still with each other or are broken up). He needs her: "So when you say what you want That you need what you got Don't forget to be kind to me" and because they know eachother so well he is starting to, in a sense, take advantage of her & take her for granted, and she is just saying...don't forget about me - be nice! she says she feels like she has been lied to and this triggers me to believe she is about to break up with him. because she knows how much he needs her...by breaking up she doesnt want him 'to die' b/c of her. i dont know...but this is what i think. more people comment please!!! |

wow...must say in my top 3 songs. anyways, here goes my interpretation: she lives a bit of a messy, untied life. she is very strong-willed yet is in a relationship. she needs to be herself which isn't perfect nor is it best for a relationship. basically, she is saying "babe, don't worry. i know i am a mess, but never forget how much i love you, and i would never do anything to harm that love" :) |

It's about once having a love, or the prospect of a love, and losing it. it's knowing the feeling of having a person to share with and losing them and wanting to feel that again. Whether in a relationship or trying to be in one..all you want is to feel loved, accepted...yet again it always results in being alone (wow...i think i just described myself) the best lyric (in my opnion) it wouldn't have worked out any way so now it's just another lonely day further along we just may but for now it's just another lonely day knowing that person may be right for you, but of course it's not the right time and things don't work out. love this song...pure genius. |

It's crazy how songs mean different things to people - for me my current experiences always make a song have a different meaning than if i were going through something else at the time as for this song, to me it is about a girl who is really falling for a boy...although they dont really know each other that well they are perfect and made for one another. The girl is basicaly saying 'trust me, i will take care of you and i am all you need'. personally, a guy i am talking with right now and starting to get close to (i think we are perfect for each other) will be moving away and i feel this song fits perfectly "don't leave home"...i feel it expresses everything i am feeling/experiencing .........."if your cold I'll keep you warm" exactly what i want him to know |

Although this song is depressing..there is so much to relate to that you feel better knowing someone else has shared this same emotion This song has some of the most meaningful lyrics: Have you ever lost your way have you ever feared another day have you ever misplaced your mind watching this world leave you behind it is about feeling confused and when it seems everyone keeps moving ahead of you you just keep slipping further and further behind. An awesome song, my favorite the second I opened the album. I think she is confused as to what is going on in her relationship and this causes her to question things outside of the relationship - life and the realities of things... to her she is doing all she can - being herself. She realizes things just wont be the way they used to be, she can only be who she is and is 'trying' to make therelationship work out this way. Just one interpretation although i view the song in a few different ways. |
