| Stone Temple Pilots – Big Empty Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I really like the heroin interpretation. I've never done drugs, but my brother did meth RIP, and we had one of those convos the last time I saw him. Me telling him you need to stay clean, because he appeared to be so and him saying he would. That was in June 2009. September 7th 2009 we get a phone call that he's dead. I kept thinking if only I'd have known, I'd have stood in our driveway and held him forever. I'd have never let him go!! And that convo does kill me, every time I think about it it kills me a little more. Also, the date rape theory seems plausible. her dizzy head is conscious laden. . . give someone GHB and that's how they are. Kidnap someone and use chloroform on them, something like that. And the person who said it's alot deeper than what Scott wants us to think. I can see that to. I know alot of singers who won't tell the audience what every song is about because they want them to come up with their own interpretations and if they tell us what ever song is about they think we won't. I do, but I like knowing their interpretation as well. |

| Seether – The Gift Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
It didn't occur to me at the time, but the other thing The Gift could be about is SHAUN'S baby girl Jayde. How she's such a precious gift to him, but he hasn't had the time to treasure her, because of his addictions & all his touring. When other people brought up the music video, & a little girl, that's when I started putting 2 & 2 together. Jayde was born in December of 2001, so she'd be about the right age now to have been in the video. Someone mentioned a 5-year-old girl, so that would put her at just about the right age when the song was released. She's 6 now, so actually, she'd have been closer to 4 when the video was done. As a sidenote, he used to drive around in their touring RV with a pic of her on the dashboard. Since they've upgraded to a bus, I don't doubt that he's still carrying that pic with him. Such a wonderful man...(sigh) |

| Butthole Surfers – Pepper Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I see a few things running through the song like others have mentioned. 1. There's just a bunch of teenagers going out & partying, thinkin' their gonna be rebellious & do stupid shit, until it catches up with them. The kid dancing with the train. 2. How you should look at things through someone else's eyes. Bobby the racist. He thinks he's being a true rebel by hating people of other colors, but all he's really doing is allowing himself to be led blindly by what others are teaching/telling him. Teenagers like to think their so different because their part of some clique or other, but really their just as stupid as some group of teenagers 2000 miles away, who are in the same clique, thinking the same thing, just in a different country, in a different middle school/high school. They think their being such individuals, but all their really doing is acting like clones of clones of clones. Because there's a clique in the Chesaning school district for all the rich kids, but then there's one in California, & one in NYC, & one all the way in China. So, your not really being an individual, or a group of individuals, because your all just clones of one another. You all look fucking stupid in other words, because you think your so perfect & INDIVIDUALISTIC. The fact is, everybody else has already gone & done it before you, so your just getting their sloppy glorified seconds. If you go dancing with a train, well guess how many idiots have left their Blood On The Tracks before you. & if you start shooting up heroin, or snorting crack, or taking meth, or dropping acid because you think it's the in thing, guess how many bodies are lying in the morgue just waiting for you to join them. Because it's already been done before. You aren't the first ones. & 3rd. The singer is saying "Stop! Take a look around! Do you really wanna end up like these people? Is this what you truly want? Because if not, there's another way." Hence where the sun & the pictures it shows you come in. Because you can look at life from it's bright side, acknowledging the negative, but also seeing the positive (when the sun comes out), or you can look at it negatively, & deny the positive side altogether. It's easier to drink from the fountain of temptation when your not afraid of death, (flowing like an avalanche coming down the mountain), when you court & welcome it the way some people do. & that (avalanche) finally crushes you. What is there to lose when you just don't give a shit like the kids in the song? The answer class, is nothing. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. |
|
| R.E.M. – Drive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, I was hoping someone would give me the real answer here. IE..an explanation straight from the horses mouth (Michael Stipe)...But I guess you can't have everything, right? Lol. Anyway, I've always believed that this song held great importance. I always knew there was a strong, dark meaning behind it, because I remember being a little girl, & hearing Michael do the "don't drink & drive" campaign thing. Lots of celebs did that one during the early-mid nineties, & the song played in the background as he spoke. All these years later, it still haunts me. So, since I don't have an answer from him, here's my take. I do believe that it's about the futility of life, of being a teenager, & wanting to fix & change everything. As a teenager, we have this sense that everything's wrong, & if the generations before us were to stupid & f***ed up to fix it, then we'll be the ones! IT'S OUR TURN! But as you get older I'm 21 now, you realize that everything works against you. Society in general, rules, regulations, & the people in charge, IE politicians, lawyers, the president, etc. You start realizing that the whole thing blows. It stinks to high Heaven, & you can smell the rot from thousands of miles away, but you can't fix it, because society is against you. And, the people in your own peer group who had the wise ideas in the first place, are now washouts, doing lines in the back of some frickin' tore-down hoopty, or drunk off their asses in some friends parent's basement, because they were to lazy to get off their asses & try to get a REAL job. One where they could effect the change they so desperately wanted. You get the drive, then you lose it as quickly as you get it, because you become a disaffected, disillusioned, apathitic idiot, who can't see past your own bullshit. It's like a depressed person. They get these crazy highs, that are quickly followed by these I-want-to-slit-my-wrists-&-die lows. & that class, is what happens to our youth. And that to me, is what this song is all about. You may all go back to your regularly scheduled programming now. Great song, great for the times. That's what I liked about 90's music in general, it ACTUALLY had a message. Dark, sinister, haunting, affecting, to be held up as a warning, "This is what can happen to you, so watch what the Hell your doing, & maybe you can prevent it." Belongs right up there with songs like "Pepper" from The Butthole Surfers, "Better Man" & "Jeremy" from Pearl Jam...& songs of that nature. |

| The Black Maria – Waking Up With Wolves Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The song is what Chris Grey wrote about while on tour. It's about having that special someone at home, but because he's on tour for so long, & they rarely see each other, he's afraid that she'll stray from him. It's about the paranoia you suffer doing that kind of lifestyle. It's very difficult to keep up a relationship when your out on the road for 10 months out of the year. I know a lot of bands like that who are on the road all the time. I love it! Great song, sad lyrics, & you can make it be about anything you want. It's nice to find out what the artist was thinking, & still come up with your own ideas. |
|
| Stone Sour – Through Glass Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
AttackTheStatic, all songs are left to interpretation. So we all know what the song is really about, but people can still post here to say what the song means "TO YOU". Those are the keywords. That's why most artists don't disclose what their songs are about, because then you get people who think it has to mean that one thing, & nothing else. EVERYBODY, KEEP POSTING WHAT IT MEANS TO YOU! & along those lines, I always saw it as a relationship where the other person doesn't see you for what you are. That's why Corey says, "And while your outside looking in, Describing what you see, Remember what your staring at is me." Because your parents see you as a straight A student, or a screw up kid who's life is going nowhere, & your friends see you as this big strong person, maybe you aren't any of those things. But when you show people who you really are, they tend to judge you harshly, because you aren't what they wanted you to be. So he's saying, Remember that I'm a person. Ok, so maybe I'm not who you thought I should be, but don't describe me as a failure, a nothing or a nobody, because I am something. I'm a person with feelings & dreams & expectations, & all you do is crush me a little more when you describe me as a nothing. The therapy angle, looking in on yourself is a good one to. Everything has been great. I love to sit here & read what other people think, 'cause it gives you a whole new perspective on a song. |

| Nonpoint – The Truth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I haven't heard this version. I want it so baaaad! but I haven't been able to get my hands on it. The little bit I was able to hear sounded beautiful though. Soft, slowed down, & driven by ELIAS'S beautiful voice. I love it! He's already explained that it was about the hassles they had with their former label Lava. Now their on Bieler Bros Records. Other people thought the song had to do with the war though, & that explanation fits nicely. For me personally, it could apply to anything. We know what ELIAS intended it for, it could also have to do with the war, or an intrapersonal relationship. People show you one side of themselves, but they keep their other side hidden. In a relationship like that, you can't move forward with the person until they've laid all their cards out on the table, meaning that they can't hold anything back from you. So it fits all 3 nicely. Well done!! |

| Tori Amos – She's Your Cocaine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Aremisian, what evidence? Can you cite it? Anyway, that was kind of my idea, about a man being feminized. Only, I saw it as the girl getting her revenge on the male-chauvenistic world we still live in. I'm not saying, ALL MEN are like this but a lot of them are, & it makes her feel good to have this guy wrapped around her finger. It makes her feel good to have gained back control by dominating him, 'cause she's got something he wants. & if he wants it, he'll have to do what she says. |
|
| Lacuna Coil – Stately Lover Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Ok, I agree with what the last person wrote, only in reverse. She's in love with a man who doesn't love her. He doesn't have Faith in their relationship because of what other people are telling him, & she's trying to get him to come to her, because if she can get him to come to her, she knows that she can change his mind. She sees that he's hurt & broken, & wants to help him, but she can't do that unless she can get him to come to her so she can heal him. | |
| Lacuna Coil – 1:19 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is a wonderful song! Absolutely love it! The person who brought up the whole New Orleans thing, just blowing crap out of their mouth. All 6 members of the band, were born & raised in Italy, which is where they met in 1991. This according to Cristina herself in an interview. They never lived in LA, & hadn't even really started touring the US until the release of Coma. This also according to Cristina. She says the boys are like her second family, & they fell in love with what she did, & she fell in love with what they did. Want proof, just search on Google, & you'll pull up plenty of interviews. Anyway, back to the song itself, I'd say it could be something about commiting a crime, or being punished for the crime you've committed, but I think again you could look at it in another way. What if the crimes you've committed are against a family member, or a significant other? In that case, they punish you, not the actual justice system. They walk away from you, & then you start thinking back on how you've treated them & what you've done, & start feeling guilty. So the dust she's swallowing could be a metaphor for guilt, hence the "I'm a loser, I'm a loser" which is repeated several times over. In other words, how could I do that? What was I thinking? I'm such a loser! Less dark, but I do agree with others that it could be about suicide, the Razor blade" comment to. Or then again, the razor blade could be a metaphor for the guilt, or the sadness you feel when you betray someone. It cuts into your heart & soul if your truly remorseful for what you've done, so the razor blade is a good metaphor. |

| Lacuna Coil – Cold Heritage Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
First off, I loooooove this song! Great beat, beautiful vocals, just like everyone else has already said. Secondly, Cristina says, "Saving all my words only for you to forgive me." So yes, she wants to be forgiven, for what, who can tell? I agree with the love angle, that she loves this person so much, & would even do something wrong for them. "I'm so near to commit a crime", but their oblivious to her & how she feels. However, it could be different types of love. The love of a partner, or the love of a parent. I had a relationship like that with my mother. I did everything to gain her approval, but could never get it. When she abandoned my family almost 3 years ago, I finally, slowly started to see the light, & have given up on her. I've finally gained some strength, enough of it to walk away from her. Anyway, great vocals, great song, just beautiful! As a side note: I saw them on Ozzfest 06, & they were greeeeat! Andreas kept encouraging everyone to come closer to the stage! & I love his vocals as well. Soft & gentle when spoken, or growling & raspy, he can pull it off nicely! We couldn't get any closer, but it was wonderful to feel like they appreciated us all! Cristina never stopped, just one great ball of energy the entire time! I love these guys! |

| Tori Amos – Precious Things Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I agree with most of the comments, except for the one about the music industry. It's way to personal to be about that. I'm predicting that it's about either her rape, or her middle school years, not high school. High school is exactly the same, but I think she was trying to show people that sex & all the baggage that goes along with it doesn't just come in high school. Look at the news. Kids who have sex are getting younger & younger. I think that that was her way of both dealing with what happened to her personally, and trying to help girls in general. I have the "To Venus & Back" live version of the song, and one of the lines goes: '"These precious things, let them bleed now, girls, yes, let them wash away."' So that's my 2 cents. MaggieMichelle |

| Seether – 69 Tea Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, there is one reference for 69, and that is a sexual position. Lol. "Tea," was what it was called when the band was known as Saran Gas back in South Africa, and released the double-disc "Fragile" in 1999. The song got a kind of makeover when they came here and got the recording contract, and it became "69Tea." As for the Tea reference, it could be a nod to Kurt Cobain's "Penny Royal Tea" off 1994's "Inutero". Shaun as said plenty of times that while he doesn't want the music compared to someone else, and he has no strict influences, he did grow up on Nirvana, PJ, etc. So, there's a couple things to chew on. Just like the "Save me smiling Jesus get off that cross" line is half mocking and half pleading, the title could be the same. Half literal IE. the sex position which is amusing, and half nod to a great artist in Kurt! Who knows for certain though. I like the irony of it either way. |

| Seether – Beer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
quickstep, whatever happened to the old addage, "IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, THEN DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!"? Maybe you weren't taught that... Anyway, this song is definitely underrated! I love it, and there should be tons of comments here! I think it's about a relationship where he hates the person, but she brings him pleasure, so he continues to carry on with her, and then regrets it. I say that, because in America queer means gay thanks to a bunch of hapless numbskulls, but in England and South Africa, it still tends to mean strange. He's half English, half South African. And in old English, the English we used to use, that's also what queer meant. Strange. So this girl is strange, in a bad way, but he continues to associate with her for the pleasure she brings him. |

| Seether – Never Leave Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
For me, this used to be about my mom. She basically up and changed her whole personality, but I was willing to do anything to have her in my life, even if that meant taking her to lunch or giving her money. I've cut ties with her though, and haven't been taken in any more since September of last year. I'm really proud of myself for that. So, the song could be about that. You love someone so much, that you refuse to see their flaws, and how their screwing you up. All you know is that you want them in your life no matter what. "Never leave me, & don't deceive me. I'll keep on crawlin' my friend." And that's what you do when you love someone that much. This is also true of addiction to a drug or chemical as well. It can destroy you completely, but if you believe in your mind, that it's the only thing you have left, then you'll do anything to hold onto it, even if it continues to reak havoc in your life/relationships. |
|
| Seether – Immortality (Pearl Jam cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I absolutely adore, adore, adore this song!! I couldn't love it more! Best cover from any band I've heard since 2003. All the good covers have come from bands like PJ, Nirvana, Staind, APC/Tool, The Cranberries, etc. So, it's been a while since I've heard something this wonderful!! I would say that it's about how things happen to kids/teenagers, and the adults around them ignore it. There's children being abused and neglected, committing suicide, and doing drugs...just losing themselves and getting lost in the crowd, and noone is doing anything to stop it. It's about how we're all to caught up in our own selfish pursuits to look around and outside of ourselves to help each other like we're meant to do. |
|
| Seether – Because Of Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Ok, no, it is SHE in the second verse. That line, "Nobody died for you, somebody pray for me" could be taken a couple different ways. He could be saying that he doesn't believe that anbody died for us, IE. Jesus, or whoever you believe in. But even though he doesn't believe that, he still wants some one to pray for him, because maybe he's wrong, and someone did die for us. The song has plenty of different meanings that could be gained from it. I like the one about war, because that's usually what happens. I know from personal experience with someone in my family. They go to war, and then they're sent home, and they believe that noone could possibly understand what they've seen and been through, so they push everyone away. Then they regret it, and wish that they hadn't, because they realize just how much they need their loved ones to be there for them. It also sounds like a relationship song. In the first two verses, he's watching the man and woman struggle, and in the third verse, he's struggling because of them. It could be like a parent child relationship. You usually feel pulled between two opposite forces when your parents divorce, here again, I speak from personal experience. So, he's trying to place the blame where it belongs, on his parents, or these two fictional characters, but in the third verse, he blames himself. And throughout the whole song, you can see it coming from a mile away, because he keeps saying, '"It's because of me, right!!???"' And at the very end, he makes it plainly clear that he wants them to suffer the way they've made him suffer. |
|
| Seether – Burrito Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Shaun was watching an Ozzy Osbourne epi on MTV, and Ozzy kept saying: (in SHAUN'S English accent) '"You want some burritos? Anybody want some burritos? Kelly, want some burritos?"' Then he laughs, and he says that that's where the title came from. He does a damned good impression of Ozzy to! Lol. Pick up "ONE COLD NIGHT", and watch the DVD interview!!! SEETHER has they're own sound. Not like PJ, not like AIC, and not like Nirvana, but like SEETHER. I think the song fits well here like someone else said. It's about someone who's hurting you, and their hurting themselves in the process. The thing is, you expect to get relief, or even pleasure from watching them hurt themselves, but you don't, because they're still hurting you. So he wants to find a way to let it go. "Give this to someone else." And to get rid of the scum, the person who's scum. "Wish I could wash it away." And get his life back. "Wish I could regain control." He just got out of rehab, so this could also be a metaphor for his addictions. He knows that their scum, bad for him, and he wants to be rid of them, but he doesn't know how. So there's more then one way to look at this. |

| Spice Girls – Last Time Lover Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I can't believe that all these songs, not just this one from the Spice Girls have barely or no comments, excluding about 3 of them. It's disgusting to me! It's ovbious what this song is about. Their lookin' for a lover, and their describing the kind of man they want. I'm not talking all 5 of them having sex with him at the same time. I'm saying that they have similar wants and needs, and that this is the kind of man their looking for. Pretty much the kind of man I want. (grin) Except for maybe a bit more kink...Lol. (purrrr) I love these girls, and their not a guilty pleasure for me. I miss them still, and throwing on one of their CD'S takes me back to being young and free. Happy and innocent. Oh, and to the person who added the lyrics, it's "Treat me right, all night." Not left. Lol. |

| Disturbed – Conflict Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I'm for any interp. Good VS. evil, 'cause it's the same as the war one. What I mean is, some people see war as a bad thing, others see it as a good thing. So, that's an example of good vs. evil right there. And it can be applied to intrapersonal relationships, war, personal conflict within oneself, any kind of problem like that. The line "I am an enemy, my very greatest enemy" is an example of personal conflict within oneself. I grew up being taught to treat others with respect, irreguardless of how they treated me. In turn, when I started being bullied in school, I started believing that it was all me, and if I was perfect or popular I'd be treated differently. I'm out of school now, have been for 3 years, but I still feel that way. I hate myself. So, there's the personal conflict. To care for yourself, or believe what everyone else says, and come to the conclusion that your nothing, and deserve to be hated by others, and in turn hating yourself for failing. Anyway, sorry it's so long. That's just my take. |

| Nonpoint – Development Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Elias is talking about how you have all these people around you, telling you what to do, and how to go about doing it. You try to abide by what they say, but you don't get anywhere, so you go your own way. But, even choosing your own path has it's problems, the "many many bad choices", and the "many many damn voices" in your brain, suggesting that you should have done something different, making you doubt yourself. But, through out this process, you start evolving and changing, hence "my world is bent, from this development, this development". You lose your sanity, are overwhelmed by everything, but in the end, at least you've learned something. Grown and changed from who and what you were at the beginning. | |
| Nonpoint – Endure Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| ELIAS is pointing out that we do what we have to, because we have to. It's not a matter of "do I want to?" it's a matter of "I have to.". I think that's what he means about maturing. As a kid, you bitch about homework, about your meanial job at McDonalds or whatever, but once you become an adult, you complain about that shit less, not because you like it any better, but because you've reached that understanding, that it's something you have to do in order to get by. The part about this is what they see when they try to look at me though, about his happy, worry free philosophy? I think that's another part of becoming an adult. You worry about bills, keeping food on the table, and it's a "crush everybody to get to the top" mentality, but when he used to walk into work, he didn't let his coleagues, or his boss see that that was something he worried about. So, I think those are the two issues in the song. My Dad knows that mentality all to well. He's a painter, paints interiors and exteriors, but when winter comes, most of his group gets laid off. In order for my Dad to make the cut, to keep from getting the temporary ax, he's gotta be the best, the fastest, hardest, strongest worker. Nevermind that he's 48 years old, and has Arthuritis. If he doesn't work like a dog, his family won't have food on the table. So, that's what I think Elias is saying. Sorry for the lengthy explanation. Lol. | |
| Nonpoint – Circles Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I think this is a case of always wanting to be first. You grow up in a home where you're always seeking approval, but you can never get it. So, when you get older, and get out into the real world, you can't handle anything less. Hence "First place or more, first place or more." Now, think about it. You can only hit first place. There isn't any "more" there's first place, and on down, but that's what ELIAS is seeking. That first place, where he'll finally get that approval. Also, there's this cool intro the band does live, where he says, '"In circles, in circles, in circles, in circles, going around in circles, in circles, in circles..."' And, it's really slow, and cool!! 'Cause it's like about 30-40 seconds long, and he sings it in a soft voice, fades to whisper, then soft, then whisper, and then, the boys kick into the beginning! I love it!! ELIAS!!!! And K.B., ANDY, & ROBB!!! Yumyumyumyumyumyum... |

| Nonpoint – Back Up Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I couldn't agree more. He runs into this person, and they're bitchin' at him, but he's got problems of his own...has a hard time working on his temper, and with that little bitch pushing him to his limits, it's time to take action! You can tell through out the entirety of the song, that he doesn't want to though. Hence why he tells the guy to bring his pressure down, and stay with "yourself". But, he'll fight him if he has to. Mmmmm...Nice one ELIAS... | |
| 50 Cent – Candy Shop Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Obviously about sex, and possibly inappropriate, but I agree with the people who said kids shouldn't be listening to it in the first place, and secondly, everybody's got their own opinion. So, to those of you who hate it, great! And to those of us who love it, great! Oh, and the person who mentioned MORRISSEY, I looooove him....MORRISSEY....MORRISSEY...MORRISSEY...*faints* Ok, done now... | |

I hope they'll play it live one day, when I'm in front of the stage...I'll attack him! Lol. I love the other version off of 2000's "STATEMENT" as well. I think that Aaron wrote this, to us, his true fans, to let us know that he appreciates everything we do...The letters we write, the honesty, and the strength we have, and from that, it makes it just a touch easier for him, because he knows "we're all the same.", as he says. No, thank you Aaron, for everything you've done for us, for all you've given us. We love you. |

| Nonpoint – Any Advice? Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| To me, it's about a relationship. ELIAS is asking his partner to explain the things she does, but in short form. He doesn't want a long drawn out explanation, he wants it right to the point. But, that isn't working, so now, he's looking for some one else to give him advice so he's not making his mistakes over and over again. Ultimately though, his girl is the only one who can explain herself, and let him know what role he might be playing in the problems. Another one down the tubes, because of a lack of communication and understanding. | |

Well, either way, I love this song!! ELIAS isn't the only one in the band with PUERTO RICAN roots, ROBB RIVERA his drummer does to! And, qkall is right. I'm Mexican, and my Dad is fluent in Spanish, so I know these things! Lol. ELIAS has every right to complain, if you wanna call it that, and I hope he keeps it up!! Go baby!! Knock 'em dead! |

| Nonpoint – Struggle Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think this song is beautiful, even though it's an older one. You can see ELIAS' vocal abilities throughout this entire album, and it also gives you insight into what drives and motivates him. I think the meaning is rather clear. Ovbiously written to all the people that pushed him down, told him he couldn't make it. And look where the band is now! Fuck 'em all!! I think it also involves his parents, their divorce andthe his subsequent pain and anger. One can shed a Hell of a lot of tears over something like that, and if your a boy, it's even worse...'Cause your raised to believe that your supposed to be MR. Macho, and never show your true feelings. I know where he's coming from. | |

Your absolutely correct, that's what the song is about. Shaun said at rollingstone.com that the song was about a girl, who's a friend of his, and she used to get the Hell beat out of her by her man, and so, he wrote it as if he were confronting the guy himself. MaggieMichelle |

mexican abortion, Not a common misconception. I got it straight from Shaun himself, in an interview. You can read it for yourself, just google it, and you'll find it. It's at mtv.com, and I believe it says something to the effect of "Frontman For Seether Is Angry" Also, listen to the song "Tongue", the first words out of his mouth are: "The tongue inside my mouth is not for sale." I also have another interview via Podcast, sent from windup. If you want it, let me know. I beg to differ about Aaron, I own all of there albums to date. But, I do agree that a band sounds mature when their able to get their frustrations out with out swearing. MaggieMichelle |

I agree with the interp of some one who is unable to find what he seeks, because the other person keeps playing emotional games with him. sadmeatcart, There aren't any "inaccuracies". I checked the lyrics on other sites, and I have the CD "DEVELOPMENT", and there were none with the exception of one small word. When ELIAS SINGS, '"WHY DOES YOUR WAY SOUND THE SAME AS YESTERDAY.'"' Not "Taste", and, there's a couple of "YEAHS" in the choruses, but other then that, it's perfectly fine. Thanks for putting them up here, I appreciate it! MaggieMichelle |

Thanks Boozm. I really appreciate it! I've always adored this song, and wondered what it was about. lookbothways, thank you to. I really like that explanation. I've always been open to other beliefs/religions etc, and I really love that you put it up here. The song rocks! MaggieMichelle |

| Seether – The Gift Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I think that this one's for Amy. I think SHAUN is telling her how much he needs her, and how important she is to him. At the same time though, he doesn't feel that he deserves her, (THE GIFT). And, he's also afraid of accepting her. Accepting the fact that she can love him for who he is, but he can't love or respect himself. An incredible song. I heard it on The SEETHER ECard, and from the bit I heard, it was absolutely beautiful. Beautiful and sad. SHAUN seems to have a talent for that. Making beautiful, haunting love songs. I agree with both of you on the meaning, and I can't believe more people haven't commented!! I am proud to say that although I've never fit in, I've never tried to either. I act the same in public, or in private, and I think people who do try to fit in just look ridiculous. That doesn't mean that I don't feel bad for them, 'cause I do, since I know what it's like. But, all you can do, in the words of Chris Cornell of Audioslave is "Be Yourself". MaggieMichelle |

This song is beautiful, heavy, melodic, and amazing! I can't wait for the new album!!! MAY TWENTY-FOURTH!! THIS TUESDAY, take note!! I agree with both interpretations, however, it doesn't always have to be about a girlfriend/boyfriend thing. I feel this way about my mom for example. So, it's not always guy/girl like everybody seems to think all the time. My take on it is that SHAUN has been around family members who've never really accepted him, (you can read about it in the bio on www.seether.com and also in the interview he did with Rock Rage. www.rockrage.com) Anyway, this is him saying '"Yeah, this is how I look on the outside. I look frail, my skin is dry and pale. But, that doesn't mean your gonna get the best of me. That doesn't mean that you've won. So, you just keep telling yourself that you'll be the death of me. But, you won't!"' It's like a big FUCK YOU, without the actual words "FUCK YOU" in the lyrics. And, that's what I tell my mom all the time. So, that's my interp. Also, on another note entirely, all of us SEETHER fans should be sending apology letters to seether@winduprecords.com 'Cause I was just reading in an interview that SHAUN gave not to long ago, that the stupid people at WindUp instructed him not to swear on the new album. "KARMAH AND EFFECT", which is out on this Tuesday, 5-24. They also told him that he had to change the cover art, and the original title was supposed to be "CATERING TO COWARDS"! How is it that Eminem, Aaron Lewis, and every one else can swear, but SHAUN can't? Since when did WindUp become part of the frickin' FCC???? Way off topic, but I wanted to point that out for all SEETHER fans so that we can at least let SHAUN know that we stand behind him, and that this bullshit is ridiculous!! Ok, I'm done acting like MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN now. My Public Service Announcement is over. You all may return to business as usual. Lol. MaggieMichelle |

Your both right. This song is terribly sad. I had a hard time making out the lyrics, 'cause the version I have on my computer is a bad one, but looking at the lyrics...It just sends chills down my spine, and all through me. It's awfully sad, what people do to each other, with out even noticing. It just makes me want to cry. MaggieMichelle |

Well, I absolutely love this song! To me, it's about loving some one so much that you'd give anything to follow them, to be where they are, and spend all of your time with them. But, they don't reciprocate that love. Or, she did something wrong in the relationship, and now, her lover won't take her back, even though she's telling him how sorry she is, and trying to prove it by telling him that she'd give anything to be with him. Can any one tell me, did Tina Marie ever sing it? I have two different versions on my computer, and I'm trying to figure out which one is which. Lol. It's kinda difficult when every one and their brother does a remake of it. |

| The Smiths – Handsome Devil Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think people are waaaaay reading into this, the child abuse thing I mean. Absolute nonsense! but if you read Morrissey's interviews, and are a true Smiths/Morrissey fan, you'll get it. He did in fact, have an encounter with a man, in the 1980's. He said so himself in an interview. So, the ovbious thing would be a male college student. Also, he's always suffered from loneliness and depression, and always felt like he wasn't loved. Was never good enough, but he tends to contradict himself on that score. In other words, he never felt like he could have sex with any one, but he sings about sex a lot, and he has had sex. So, just something else to gnaw on. MaggieMichelle |

| Nonpoint – Impossible Needs Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
ELIAS seems to be dealing with a couple of things, First, Some one who expects him to achieve, and strive farther then is humanly possible. Secondly, Is the idea that this person has made him question his own beliefs. He believes that all these things he's been doing make him a man, but the other person disagrees, and therefore, causes ELIAS to doubt himself. That's where the taking chances comes in. He's saying that he'd like to take chances, but his doubts are now holding him back. But the chorus seems to point to his resolution. ''"NOT FOR YOU, YOUR TO HARD TO PLEASE."' So, he's giving up on this person, and going to do things to please himself. MaggieMichelle |
