Immortality (Pearl Jam cover) Lyrics

"Immortality", written by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam and covered by Seether on the "One Cold Night" album

Vacate, is the word.
Vengeance has no place so near to her.
Cannot find the comfort in this world.
Artificial tear. Vessel stabbed, next up, volunteers?
Vulnerable. Wisdom can't adhere.

A truant finds home, and a wish to hold on but there's a trapdoor in the sun.
Immortality.

As privileged as a whore.
Victims in demand for public show.
Swept out through the cracks beneath the door.
Holier than thou. How? Surrendered, executed, anyhow.
Scrawl dissolved. Cigar box on the floor.

A truant finds home, and I wish to hold on too, but saw the trapdoor in the sun.
Immortality.

I cannot stop the thought of running in the dark.
Coming up a which way sign.
All good truants must decide.
Oh, stripped and sold mom.
An auctioned forearm and whiskers in the sink.
Truants move on, cannot stay long.
Some die just to live...
Ohh...

really a great cover...as best as i've heard in awhile..

i don't personally think this song is JUST about cobain..maybe a little bit but not entirely...this song was written before cobain died, then they lyrics were changed after he died...so...think whatever

but great great job by seether...

i think pearl jam is one of seether's favorite bands. not only for their uniqueness, but for their style. i hav read/heard in several interviews, including the One Cold Night bonus DVD, that they think of pearl jam as one of rock's greatest inovaters.

i just love how on the One Cold Night album how much Shaun sounded like Eddie Vedder. i have been a fan of both pearl jam and seether, so when i bought this album and played it, i was supprised to see this cover on it. its amazing

btw, i am the one who posted the lyrics.

I absolutely adore, adore, adore this song!! I couldn't love it more! Best cover from any band I've heard since 2003. All the good covers have come from bands like PJ, Nirvana, Staind, APC/Tool, The Cranberries, etc. So, it's been a while since I've heard something this wonderful!! I would say that it's about how things happen to kids/teenagers, and the adults around them ignore it. There's children being abused and neglected, committing suicide, and doing drugs...just losing themselves and getting lost in the crowd, and noone is doing anything to stop it. It's about how we're all to caught up in our own selfish pursuits to look around and outside of ourselves to help each other like we're meant to do.

the one way i see this song definitively being about cobain, is the cigar box, because when cobain was found he kept his needles in a cigar box.
