Garth Brooks – The Thunder Rolls Lyrics 19 years ago
this songs meaning is common sense... but the message that garth is stating is not only a current problem in many cases, but also a very powerful one...and it becomes even more powerful when the final verse is added on. many husbands can learn a lesson by this song

Kenny Rogers – The Gambler Lyrics 19 years ago
I have held many long, heated discussions with my mother as to whether The Gambler dies at the end of the song. I say he does, she says not. I think it just makes sense. What else would "broke even" and "final words" refer to? And he already said that "the best you can hope for is to die in your sleep."

Pavement – Range Life Lyrics 19 years ago
This is probably the best country-rock song that's not on The Byrds' "Sweetheart of the Rodeo." Even if you don't care much about the Pavement/Pumpkins drama, you can still enjoy the catchy-as-hell melody.

The Beatles – Your Mother Should Know Lyrics 19 years ago
A very catchy little song. I like The Beatles' "vaudeville" type songs, ('Honey Pie' off The White Album, 'When I'm 64', this one) quite a bit.

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists – The Anointed One Lyrics 19 years ago
Anyone else see this song as a semi-reference to G.W. Bush? I'm not saying the whole song is about hime, but certain lines do lend themselves to him.

Electric Light Orchestra – Mr. Blue Sky Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is a like 5-minute musical orgasm. Pure pop perfection.

Spoon – Stay Don't Go Lyrics 19 years ago
Any song where beatboxing provides the main percussion is fine by me.

Spoon – Everything Hits At Once Lyrics 19 years ago
Lyrically, this is definitely one of Spoon's best and most mature songs, along with "Paper Tiger" and "Chicago at Night".

Spoon rocks the Casbah, especially live!

Belle & Sebastian – It Could Have Been a Brilliant Career Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is my namesake! Love it. For me, Stevie's backup vocals on the chorus just take the song to higher level of pop perfection. An excellent, although kind of quiet, start to an album.

P.S. -- I've wondered this for some time: What are 'Dansettes'?

Belle & Sebastian – Ease Your Feet in the Sea Lyrics 19 years ago
I believe this song is about coping with a friend's suicide. For example, "Suddenly, without a warning/on a pale blue morning you decide your time is wearing thin/a conscious choice to let yourself dangling/hovering." Regardless, it's still a very pretty song with a nice violin solo.

Xiu Xiu – Sad Pony Guerrilla Girl Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is strangely and intensely moving to me. I guess it's just the perverse, yet honest conviction in Jamie Stewart's voice.
