David Gray – Ain't No Love Lyrics 19 years ago
I feel this song is perhaps one of David's most depressing.

The most important line in the song is line 4. "as it is that's just a lie" - this is in regards how it would maybe do him good to believe there is a God - except he realises it's a lie. His conclusion is that "Love", or God if you will won't guide him.

Then there comes the moment of hope. In winter there we see the beautiful image of this tree with glittering colours. Yet then when we pull back - look at it from perspective we realise it's barely a "quiver in the dirt"

While in my opinion a song about losing hope - but the question remains. Something is guiding him in this song - if not God - what?

David Gray does an absolutely AWESOME cover of this on his new DVD. The song is about a city falling on hard times.

David Gray – Babylon Lyrics 19 years ago
As already stated, the words Babylon is actually a play on words. He is actually saying "Babble-On". Read it that way and the whole thing makes sense.

Coldplay – Fix You Lyrics 19 years ago
I know what this song is about her Dad, but ironically the meaning is so different to me.

My long term partner recently lost her way a bit and got involved in somone else. I was shattered at the time, but she played this to me because her own words couldn't explain it better.

"If you never try you will never know" to me showed how she did was out of cuirisoty, and she had to do it to prove what I worth. All the lyrics in fact describe that aspect of it.

Then of course comes the uplifting part where I relate that to my partner saying "sorry" to me, but "can you give me a second chance".

Probably all wrong, but the incident explains it word for word, so who knows, maybe it's the "other" meaning of this song.

David Gray – Freedom Lyrics 21 years ago
I think it was written when his Dad died. Don't think it is about his Dad as such, but more a reflection on the world. In fact, was this song written 9/11 era? "running through a world thats lost its meaning"?

David Gray – Babylon Lyrics 21 years ago
I think the thing about the argument makes sense, especially when you hear this next bit.

Babylon does indeed mean all those things, but from what I heard, it doesn't mean it in this context. Say "Babylon" aloud. It actually means Babble-On. David Gray is saying when he is trying to say something he Babbles On, but for the purpose of the song, he changed it to Babylon, which also has it's own meaning. I think with the arguement the idea or Babbling on makes sense. I think we may have cracked it!
