This song is a piece of shit. It has an okay beat, but it kind of sounds like a cheaper version of Snoop's "Drop It like It's Hot".
The whisper thing kind of throws off the fact that these lyrics hardly make sense, and even if the lyrics did make sense - THEY DON'T RHYME!!! Rhyming soft with soft, head with head bed and fed?? Either they were reading to many Dr. Seuss books, or they are just mentally retarded.
The song sounded good to me when I heard it the first time - then I really listened to the lyrics and they are so terrible it makes me laugh. Come on, even Nsync has more talented songs. |

I agree with sicanonym. I also think it's about corruption in the catholic religion. The pope is calling a rat something else. Rat as in a sneaky, lying, dirty person.

I think this song is simply about a girl who can't help marrying this man. She loves him for some reason, but it's almost as if it's against her will. She feels helpless, and the "My life is not mine. Like a dog or a wife. " obviously refers to the fact that she's his wife. |

For some reason, this song gives me a vibe that it's referring to communism. The baby is communism. I dunno, that's just what I always felt while listening to the song, especially the first two dozen "lines" of lyrics. And the people who named the baby are the United States government. Who knows, that's just my theory.
I don't know enough about this subject to make the true to life parallels. Someone help me out here!! Or I'll just do some research...
Or maybe it refers to what's going on in Iraq and the middle east. US gave weapons to Iraq(i think) to fight Iran back in the day, now its all backfiring. And the US plays this shit like voodoo dolls. Tell me if this makes any sense, or correct me if I'm wrong. |

makoe could be right. it's funny, because once i played this song in the car with my dad and he was like is this hilter singing??? i was like wow.. hitler's not the only person who knows how to speak german.
the fact that "die" and "satan" is in the title makes people think its truely satanic and evil... but if you knew anything, tot is the word for dead in german. which is pretty funny, because tot in english can mean child... yeah i only know that because of :w:
tool's music isn't for ignorant people.. however, i know a lot of ignorant people who still are avid tool fans, think it's still hitler related, and think that's what makes the song cool.
oh and about what Viro said.. i agree with you totally on how in america, we tend to stereotype.. A LOT. we have the lamest television programs, movies etc.. EVER. the only thing worth watching is ATHF.. on DVD, because commercials suck more than getting cancer.
however, the gun control issue is a whole different story. guns aren't the only thing that kills people. people kill people. one of my friends just got arrested last saturday for stabbing someone to death. it was sort of gang related, but mostly because he was drunk and 7 guys vs. 3 guys... he wanted to win. well he did, he won a fucking life in prison. he's my age (17). it happened on my street too, but a ten minute walk away, because my street's long as hell. |

the message i get from this song is that this world has grown extremely shallow, especially in the last 40 more or less years (because of tv, radio, internet). all we see are images of perfection, an impossible goal that today's "youth" is obsessively aiming for. we are such a consumer based society that we don't care if we sell out ourselves to stupid prescriptions, and some asshole doctor will tell us how safe it is because he wants his stocks to go up a point. we can't even accept the fact that maybe slight ADD just makes a person unique... and being under 100lbs doesn't define beauty, or health at that.
i think most of the brain wash we receive today is from advertisements. i think it's a mild form of mind control. and it's only legal because it makes money, and we only live because of money and we only think because of money and we we're only born to make and give money and money and money and money...... you get the point.
