| The Dismemberment Plan – It's So You Lyrics | 21 years ago |

This song is about a suicide I heard, with a very tongue-in-cheek message to the departed. He shows lots of anger and regret: "I will do everything in my power to make sure that this little stunt of yours Gets you absolutely nowhere But I guess I’m really talking to myself here" That line pretty much sums up the song, his overall anger, and though he's not trying to let it show it, regret. |

"Gonna break it down to the nitty grit Gonna tell you motherfuckers why you ain't shit" Possibly the greatest line ever? Maybe. *thumbs up* |

| Modest Mouse – Float On Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Modest Mouse is now officially my favorite MAINSTREAM band, and I can proudly say that. You have to love them for the fact that they didn't change to make a more mainstream sound. Their sound may have evolved, but its still 100% mouse. | |
| Sonic Youth – Teenage Riot Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Greatest Song ever. Really. I bought Daydream Nation a about a year ago and it took me about half a year to get past this song. It's just...perfect. The crashing guitars, the dead-pan vocals (that contain more energy then any dead-pan vocals ever sung), and the bridge that hits aroudn the 5:30 second part. It's incredibly hard not to air guitar to this one, I can barely contain myself (heh). Just. Fucking. Awsome. | |
| My Bloody Valentine – I Can See It (But I Can't Feel It) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
To me, this song is about somebody who leaves another person.("Don't know when I will leave you again") The person who is left behind feels great heartache; they obviously feel incredibly lost without the other person. However, the person who leaves feels they are draging down the other person("Grab a reason And I'm dragging you down"). The Story climaxes when the person who leaves comes back, apparantly to cheer the other person up. However, when he goes to see this person, they've commited suicide ("Shot in the head I can see"). The person feels great disbelief ("I can see it But I can't feel it"). Even though their incredibly dreary, I like the lyrics to this song, it tells a story in a few short lines and combined with the equally dreary soundscape behind it, is a pretty powerful statement. |
