Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's saying "billion" in both verses.
Sorry, I don't have any clever insights about the meaning of this song. |

| NOFX – Bob Turkee Lyrics
|
This song is apparently about a real guy named Bob Durkee. I'm not sure if they are joking or not. I thoroughly enjoy the last part, though (which is absent from this transcription):
"Why don't you like that guy?"
"I guess he's not such a bad guy after all..."
[laughing]

He has a drug problem, but fully knows the damage it is causing. All the same, he would rather be intoxicated than face his problems in the real world.

I don't think they're trying to admit to "selling out." The guy has a family to support and he chooses to make his living through music. I assume he is making a modest income at best. Hearing some teenager cry "sell out" anytime anyone makes any money at all through music must get annoying, especially when the accuser has no idea about being totally self-supported. |

| Why Should I? Because – Intro Song Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
Hi. Shane wrote this one.
Andy Dong was some dork we knew in junior high and later, high school. He would make a point of lighting up a cigarette while he drove through the school parking lot in his truck. Carlton told me that he didn't even inhale, he just held the smoke in his mouth. Haw. |

Hi. Chris wrote this one.
Totally improvised man!!! He is actually referring to another song he wrote that day (that we didn't end up recording). This one took a few takes because I was doing the drum part and it was fast and I don't claim to be great at drums. |

Hi. I wrote this one.
I don't like the fact that it's "Cap'n" Crunch. I suggest saying "Captain," written word notwithstanding. This is a rather noncharacteristic viewpoint of mine, but it shall be held until they pry it from my cold dead hands. |

| Why Should I? Because – I Don't Know Lyrics

|
Hi. I wrote this one.
This was an early attempt at writing a serious song. It went okay, depending on your opinion of this sort of thing. It was about my relationship with my ex-girlfriend (current girlfriend at the time, of course). It's not exactly positive, but it's not really negative either. It just is, man. Man. Simplify. [does peace sign] |

Hi. I wrote this one.
Kevin Isaacson sucks. He was quite annoying back in junior high, but much less so now. Maybe it's his career in debt collection. I think Chris was the one that suggested the last line. Not to be political or anything, it was just something cool to say that fit the rhythm. |

Hi. My friend Chris wrote this one.
This was Chris' first song. It recounted a time in junior high when Anthony laughed at Chris for having mustard on his mouth. To this day, the "scars" from that mustard have not faded. Or something. |

| Why Should I? Because – Too Punk For Crosswalks Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
Hi. I wrote this one.
I knew it was going to be a hit as soon as I wrote it. In fact, I scrawled "Cool rhythm/rhyme scheme" (or something to that effect) on the lyric sheet and signed my name. This was written after I had displayed my obvious punk rock leanings by *totally ignoring* a perfectly good crosswalk. Note: It was about 3am and we were crossing a side street near a grocery store. You can be sure I risked my life that night. |

Hi. I wrote this one.
Hey, check out the "clever" title, eh? Eh? Jealous? Anyway, this was one of the many songs (nearly all of them unreleased) about our crappy high school newspaper, the Monticello. Let's just say they took grammar and punctuation rules as mere suggestions. |

| Why Should I? Because – Yeah, Right Lyrics

Hi. I wrote this one (in collaboration with the rest of the band).
This started out as an improvised jam targeted toward my cousin and sister who were laughing at "something else" -- or so they claimed. I added more lyrics later and now it sounds pseudo-serious, which is just fine for a pseudo-punk song. |

| Why Should I? Because – The People In Front Of Us At The Movie Theater Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
Hi. I wrote this one.
The lyrics to this song were different when I first wrote it. It started out as a response to the overly excited (you guessed it) people in front of us at the movie theater. They laughed at everything, including a trailer to Out to Sea (an obvious faux pas). Later, I changed the words to be about the friends I was with that day and how they have long since gone on to bigger and better things. For example, smoking weed and being drunk a lot. |

| Why Should I? Because – Rebel (In Front Of Me) Lyrics

Hi. I wrote this one.
In the general sense, this song is about "that rebellious guy" you knew in high school. In the specific sense, it is a composite sketch of some people I knew in my particular high school, including Brad Kraft (to think, he was my best friend in 1st grade!). |

Hi. I wrote this.
I started out writing a song about how boring my Driver's Ed class was. It then "morphed" into a scene out of a lame Driver's Ed movie. I thought it was extremely hilarious, even before I got to hear the band do all the spoken parts. |

Ah, where to begin.... This caused (and still causes, in fact) quite an uproar. When we first recorded this song and made it available from our web site, Silverchair fans had a fit. Read about it at http://www.ysib.com
Anyway, long story short, this song is a joke, and we never had any vendetta against Daniel Johns. Sorry, kids. |

| Why Should I? Because – Blue To Red Ac-ed Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
Hi. My friend Chris wrote this.
This is about those crazy high school chemistry videos, "World of Chemistry." The host was an old, mellow gentleman Roald Hoffmann. In sharp contrast was his sidekick, the crazy Donald Showalter, who performed the demonstrations. The experiment in question was how litmus paper changed colors when it reacted with a basic or acidic solution. "The litmus paper turns red. Here, let me help you remember that. Blue to red.. ac-ed." Of course, he did the experiment with a base as well, with disappointing results. "Red to blue... base," he says slightly dejectedly, as if he laments there is no easy rhyme. |
