Waking Ashland – Longshot Lyrics 21 years ago
to me it can be seen on two levels, both describing relationships. one with a close companion/lover and one with God. i see the links in some of the wording...

"you're everything i try to be" - mirroring a relationship with Christ
"the rise and fall to respond to the call" - the struggle to respond to the voice of God
"all i need is your hand" - pretty self explanatory
"take me, make me" - a cry for God to do just that
"I sing a new song" - directly out of Psalms

those are my thoughts

Dead Poetic – A Green Desire Lyrics 21 years ago
Seems to be about a person struggling to truly live and find meaning in a life that is hard to deal with at times.

"Which hand should I cut off"
refering to the words of JC in the Bible? Maybe...

2nd verse = more references to despair and feeling helpless

"I hope you’re coming soon"
the 2nd coming?

wants to be in heaven seems to be looking forward to it but then, there's a question

"Will you be there to grab my hand"

Cool song overall

Dead Poetic – Four Wall Blackmail Lyrics 21 years ago
I agree with silygirl18 & andr0x :D

the "walls" are walls. they surround us and "see" the things we do, wrong and right. and so does God. he fears his reputation being tarnished by his wrong actions. And then he is "on the floor" presumably from the total and utter bruising of his soul.

there is some sort of an apology. cool. um... and the ending... just repeating the defeatedness of the guy i guess.

Dead Poetic – Tell Myself Goodbye Lyrics 21 years ago
standard screamo love song? or something deeper?
I think it's deepr. Knowing the strong CHristian beleifs of this band I reckon this:

"These words roll of my tongue like second nature."
Seems to be a common occurence then. Repeated a lot?

"But I’m far from my womb, and you know I’m far from you"
Turned back on faith, religion, w/e, screwed up in some way or other

"Was this already written or have I fallen so far…"
Predestination, inevitability, is it too late to turn back?

"I thought you had me forever.
But I’m sure you thought the same about me.
And I’m sorry, so sorry."
Commenting on how he thought he was safe and secure. And apologising. Interesting.

"So I’ll use yours, like a dropped friend I wish I never left.
I wish I never left you. I wish I never left you.
I can’t tell the light from the dark."

Keeping up appearances, doing the same old things, lying to self. Experessing regret. And admitting blindness. Unable to see.

Interesting. Seems depressing.

Or, it cud just be another screamo song. Either way, it rocks out. The vocals are eexcellent. The combo of harmonic voice and cathartic screaming. I love it.

Damien Rice – Delicate Lyrics 21 years ago
i think that is one possible interpretation, BlackEyedAngels :D To me it speaks of the inimate relationship between God and humanity portrayed, quite excellently, as a love affair.

It speaks of apprehension:

"We might make out when nobody's there
It's not that we're scared
It's just that it's delicate"

and it could be said that God is questioning the desire to be secret lovers:

"And why do you sing Hallelujah
If it means nothing to you
Why do you sing with me at all?"

Maybe I'm just reading into this too much. :S But this is how it speaks to me.
