| although i agree with the comments already posted; i think that maybe this 'oh so normal life' isnt all that bad. altho dave usually disguises any pervertion with a beautiful melody; i think his aim here was to sound content and happy with this life. altho someones life may be nothing extraordinary; that does not make it unfortoneate. | |

| i see this girl walk aroudn in my school everyday. there are 10 of her in every class of mine. hell, for all i know, i may be one as well. this song shows that although many people find comfort in the norm, and what we perceive as the norm, is in reality very uncomfortable for most people. this girl is blinded by her normalities as many are today. the idea that this is someone else is natural to me- until the last line; when it changes from 'it took bites out of her insides til she was jsut a hollow shell' to 'it took bites out of your insides til you were jsut a hollow shell' therefore pointing the finger at you- the listener, reader, watcher, it shoves this stereotypical lifestyle that many of us lead into our faces and tells (at least me) that we too are probably this girl. | |

this song is simply a reminecence of a past relationship. it sets up a wonderful scene of the singer casually talking to a friend who has recently talked to his ex, that he misses, but of course, his testosterone out beats his feelings, and he takes the opposite reaction~ 'just dont tell her that i miss her' i think this song has a lesson in it. altho he cannot ever get this relationship back, and says he woudl never want to, he remembers 'all the little things like that' and still realizes them for what they were. he sees the good in teh relationship and doesnt let the bad take over. he sees what he loved too. |

this song is a simple feel-good song. the main aspirations in this song is obviously love and euphoria. the line 'The world is blowing up The world is caving in The world has lost her way again But you are here with me But you are here with me Makes it ok ' shows the comfort he has taken in this person~this is felt by many people and therefore makes the song meaningful to numbers of listeners. i believe that this song was not 'meant' for anyone, but it seems to fit my situation well. |

this song holds an elegant double meaning. dave, as many people know, is a widower and i believe his wife's name was grace. the obvious statement 'my grace is gone' shows that his wife has died and left him behind. but within that the simple meanign fo the word grace; his balance and grasp of reality, has left him simuletaneously. this song is tragic and gets deep into the listener because it is most everyone's wrost fear : that the lvoe fo their life will leave them behind here. the line 'one drink to remember one drink to forget' is often repeated and i think this adds to his rememberance and also to teh fact that, as he drinks more, he seems to forget less--the drinking is increasing his depression instead of numbing it as he thought it would. once again, dave has amazed me with his talent. |
