It reminds me of Milton's Paradise Lost for some reason. I was thinking it was almost like a conversation between Adam and Eve after the fall, with some interjections by Satan. I have no idea. That was just my first impression. It's the end of the semester, so I guess everything is reminding me of Milton.
At any rate, I like this song a lot. |

I think this song and Prufrock are similar because in this song, there's mention to how he is about to do something important, but would rather sink than swim.
In Prufrock, the narrator is about to ask an important question, but he is full of insecurity, so he chooses not to. And at the end, he imagines himself walking on the beach and he "drowns."
There are connections, definitely.
I like this song and I'm reluctantly becoming a fan of Bayside, the vocalist has a very melodic voice. |

On that note, I think the song could mean several things. The first time I listened to it, I thought that it was comparing a move to a change in a relationship. Then, the more I listen to it (and read the lyrics), the more I'm confused about its meaning. |

I agree that Weezer sounds a lot like the pixies; generally it's the guitar leads, though. I believe Weezer has listed the Pixies as one of their influences, so that might have something to do with it.

Not having any knowledge of the Paul statement, I have always thought that "I lit a fire" did not mean burning down her house, I interpreted it as ... he lit up. My boyfriend is laughing his ass off at this idea, but to me it's more "beatle-esque". So I'm passing the laugh on to you!! |
