| OneRepublic – Apologize Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
To me this song is beyond just a broken relationship, it is a broken marriage. It is about two people who have loved each other through thick and thin and who's marriage has survived a lot, but something happens be it infidelity, addiction, or even her own suicide. Whatever her actions were, it was enough to break him irreparably. It is too late to apologize. What is done is done and the damage is too much to overcome. |

| Foo Fighters – February Stars Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
With this song, I picture a person in the middle of field in the middle of no where laying on the hood of their car all alone staring up at the stars on a cold and clear February night. They are reflecting on a close friendship with someone over time where they developed romantic feelings for the other person that were not reciprocated: "hanging on here until I'm gone I'm right where I belong just hanging on even know I watched you come and go how was I to know you'd steal the show?" In this verse what is being said is "we have been good friends forever, I have developed feelings beyond just friendship". "one day I'll have enough to gamble I'll wait to hear your final call and bet it all" Here he is waiting to build up enough courage to tell her how he feels and see if she feels the same way. Bet is all is a reference to the value of their friendship and his feelings. He could ruin both by telling her. "I'm hanging on here until I'm gone right where I belong just hanging on even know I pass this time alone somewhere so unknown it heals the soul" This really paints a picture of someone just staring into the sky reflecting on their feelings. "Hanging on" represents time passing, day by day, week by week, month by month. "you ask for walls I'll build them higher we'll lie in the shadows of them all I'd stand but they're much to tall and I fall" Here walls represent the boundaries of friendship. He builds these walls higher as he enjoys their friendship and spending time with her, but he has built the walls so tall he will never be able to get over them to something more than friendship, so he gives up and and comes to accept that friendship is the only thing this relationship will ever be. "February stars Floating in the dark Temporary scars February stars..." The final words and instrumentals of this song really represent the bittersweet feelings one can have when they come to a moment of truth. In this case it is that their friendship will always be something special, but it will only be a friendship. Now, all alone in a field in the middle of no where, a man lays staring at the stars and the blackness of space and comes to terms with his feelings. |

| Eminem – Love The Way You Lie (feat. Rihanna) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
The domestic abuse meaning is something you could scrape off of the top of this song pretty easily, but I do not see it purely in this sense. If you watch the video it pretty much nails the meaning to me: Two people who are very much in love, but who allow their extreme jealously and anger slowly burn away at their relationship. In the video you witness them both hitting and being physical with each other, both are caught talking to other people, and yet both are shown to be completely enamored for each other. We have all been there right? When the person you love does something to hurt you very bad and all you want to do is hurt them back as retribution. Yet in all of this effort, you are focusing all of your energy on this one person and they occupy 100% of your thought process. One could say this is a testament in and of itself for the love you have for them. At some point you make up though and the complete rush that comes with this over takes you both with the power of a drug. But as all highs go, it wears off and the cycle repeats. On to the next fix. This song is about that vicious cycle and how it repeats it's self until both people's emotions are callused over and the relationship is cold and dead. |

| Lenny Kravitz – Again Lyrics | 16 years ago |

To each their own on how to interpret this song, but to me this song is less about the the girl you are with now that is leaving your life soon and more about the "what if" girl you make an innocent, yet powerful connection with in a random unexpected place. If you have ever seen the video you can also get a sense of the complexity of the feelings the song invokes. For instance, you can see that Lenny has a girl he is with already, and I get the sense that he is far from home touring. He meets his "what if" girl completely at random eating lunch and having a beer at some common diner. Considering he has a woman already and is far from home all he can do is thing about her and "what if". After all in just a few days he will be on a plane, bus, or train and be back home or off to his is next destination. In all likelihood he will never see this woman ever again. I travel fairly often for work and various other activities throughout the year. I make hundreds of interactions with people I will never see again in my life. Most of these are easily forgotten but I have had one or two conversations, long eye contacts, etc with a couple women in my life time that gave me that sinking feeling in my stomach. Some would describe this feeling as deep infatuation, connecting to someone's soul, or love at first sight. It is a powerful feeling that can completely overtake you. Considering both times I was far from home and otherwise involved with another woman, there was little I could do about it and I know in all reality I would never see this person again. This truth does little to ease one's mine. It is quite the internal battle you deal with when you start thinking about being with the woman that gave you these feelings vs reality. Reality is taking away a once in a life time opportunity for you, or so it seems. This is feeling I think Lenny was trying to get across with this song. It is a great song to this day. |

I have a more specific meaning for this song then what I have been reading. To me this is about a very short lived but deep infatuation a guy has with an exotic dancer. The first verse describes him seeing her and their interaction. She does what all dancers do, make you feel like a king (for a price). There is something about her though and he feels something for her unexpectedly. Something simple yet powerful for reasons unknown to him. He wants to know why he feels this, but he quickly realizes she is just out there for the money. She will do the same very act for the next guy (But she's just not that way, Her little soul is stolen, See her put on her brand new face) The chorus describes a club and him being in it. Shades are pulled, razor blades for the dancers with a coke problem in the back, etc. I can vision the guy just watching her and loving what he sees yet hating he feels like that. He should have more sense than that, but there is something about her he can't put his finger on that draws him to her. But, in the end it's all a game for money and nothing more. The final verse describes further the realization that his infatuation will amount to nothing and he should have more sense to even consider anything would happen between them. This realization occurs when he attempts to take money out of the equation and connect personally. With no money though in a club, you get no attention and become the creep, wierdo, or cheap skate. (She's not so sweet today She mocks me, I'm no fighter). It is unfortunate to him because what he is feeling is real and significant, yet there is nothing more that can be done. (It all just seems like such a waste) The final "It's oversimplified" bit outlines the whole song for me. You go to a club and you know what you are getting when you go there. A very simple concept. When some thing unexpected happens though, it can be more than that. |

| Good song. It really sounds like the Twisted Sister song Burn in Hell from Peewee's Big Adventure. :) | |
| 3 Doors Down – It's Not My Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Perhaps I am over simplifying this, but I do not see this about a romantic relationship directly. To me, I see it from the perspective of the singer going through something life threatening. Maybe something like a cancer diagnosis, etc. He is saying this to his love interest and/or his family. He is saying "The news is grim, and I know you see the future as being bleak for me, but while I am scared, I've had too good of a life and I'll be damned if I'm going out like this." A truly fantastic theme for the human spirit. |

This is the best rap dis song ever. Most rap dis songs are a bunch of random insults not backed up by anything and are all out attacks. This song is logical, cool, calm and collective. He gets his point across in a very firm way, yet seems intelligent and willing to work things out diplomatically at the same time. Also the flow is not typical. Some might call it cumbersome, but I find it very smooth and different in a good way. |

| I've always thought this song was about spam and junk mail and how it can drive you crazy. | |
| Eamon – Fuck It (I Don't Want You Back) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
To all of you that are complaining about the cussing in this song, it would not be the same without it. Everyone has been to the point where they just say "Fuck it". There is no logical deep thought process to it, it is just raw emotion. If this song was watered down with wussy lyrics it would not have the same attitude and bite. Granted the marketing plot behing this and the frankee song was pretty lame, but one cannot take away the lyrical content. It is what it is. Some people dis on it because it doesn't have really long complicated words and no real metaphorical content, therefore weak and not "deep". Life isn't always deep. Deep isn't always important. Emotions can be deep or simple. Deep and simple emotions can have the same value to the one feeling them. As far as complexity, love is a far more complex and deeper feeling than animal rage, yet significant events can occur from either feeling. This is a very MALE song too. I'm not sexist, but sorry ladies, this isn't a song for you. You have no idea how true the smaller details of the lyrics pertains to the average female. I mean you don't see us guys goign down the road listening to "Girls Just Want to Have Fun". Have your songs and we will have ours. =P |

Not a Britney fan myself, but this song is great. Any one who has ever felt totally defeated by something they did to screw up things with someone they really cared about can relate to this song. The desperation this song portrays is amazing. |

Winter, in life, your opinion does not equal reality. So get over it. IMO this version is much better than the NIN version, the age in his voice makes a lot more of an impact. Reznor, or course, still gets propts for the awesome lyrics. |

For sure about a rollercoaster relationship, where the narator is the more "whipped" one. Sucks... But we have all be there. One of my favorite songs, by my favorite band. |

| Blink-182 – I Miss You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Fabolous I differ in opinion. The dead theory makes perfect sense to me. All those lines make sense to me too. "Hello there, the angel from my nightmare " This is as her being an angel now (dead) in his living nightmare. "and as I stared I counted webs from all the spiders catching things and eating their insides " He can't sleep and her is staring at the cealing, there are cob webs on cealings. This just shows his desperation and how it is so emotionally draining he cannot even do something as simply as sleep. "Dont waste your time on me your already the voice inside my head" If you have ever dealt with someone dying, most of the aspect of the funeral and cerimonies deals with them going on to be with God, Allah, or what ever diety they worship. He is simply saying I will always remember you, go on without me. Granted I can see other areas where this song makes sense. I think a song is good when it can be interprited many ways. :) |

| Blink-182 – I Miss You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Regos, The "indecision to call you" part I interpret as someone who has shaky faith in God and feels silly in talking to thin air, but his feelings for this girl were so strong he wants to pray anyway just to be able to talk to her in some way. This shows the desperation of the singer. I think she is dead mainly due to the first verse: "Hello there, the angel from my nightmare" He is dreaming about her death, thus a nightmare, but she is still in the dream; his angel. "the unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley" Perhaps the way she died? "we can live like Jack and Sally if we want where you can always find me we'll have Halloween on Christmas and in the night we'll wish this never ends we'll wish this never ends" The reference to the nightmare before Christmas is obvious. Thus supporting the dead theory as stated by weezer geek. |

| Cold – Stupid Girl Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Meaningless torture is more on the money IMO. I do not think this has to do with an abisive relationship, or a guy with a messed up head, I see it like this: Basically its a guy who is really been nice to this one girl he cares about a whole lot, and he just wants to be with her. "Wanna love ya, Wanna bug ya, Wanna squeeze ya" But, as girls do, she doesnt buy into the nice guy thing, and leaves him for another guy that is more of a bad boy. This is illogical to him thus the "stupid girl" & "What's wrong with my life today?". The whole "I'm a loner, I'm a loser, I'm a winner, In my mind. I'm a bad one, I'm a good one, I'm a sick one, with a smile." Just means to me, he is a good guy, but he isn't popular or cool as the other people she wants to date. My point my be tainted though, as I have been in these shoes, and this song described my life, to me, perfect at one point. |

| Counting Crows – Colorblind Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I wish this song wasnt so associated with the movie Cruel Intentions. I actually heard it before seeing the film. While I agree this song is more about exposing your true self to someone, I think the aspect of growing up has some to do with the meaning of the song to. You stop playing the games, and realize you want more. The correct spelling is "Colorblind" not colour. The artist named the song "Colorblind" so grammer/nationality is irrellavant. |

| Blink-182 – I Miss You Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I would say this song is about a person's girlfriend passing away, and how he is dealing with that. I base this on the morbidity of the first verse. The second verse is basically the person laying in bed trying to sleep, and praying to the person that died. "like indecision to call you and hear your voice of treason" This is basically him trying to pray to her, and the treason would be her going over to the side of the dead and not the living anymore. The chourus is just saying to "dont worry about me anymore let your soul be free, I will always remember you" |

| Eminem – Kim Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| Any guy thats been truly hurt by a girl you really loved in a relationship you invested a whole lot in can relate to this song. Its not about really going out and doing this stuff. Its the raw animalistic feelings we all feel when infuriated to this point. Any guy thats gone through this knows just what eminem is talking about. | |
| Fuel – Hemorrhage (In My Hands) Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
This song is about not realizing how much you love someone until they are gone. If you have seen the video to this song, you will notice its more about the male character having an epiphany on just how much he loves his girlfriend/wife. What I see happening is that he is sitting on the his porch day dreaming. Once the daydream starts you'll notice the ghost figure of himself come out of his body, and the screen gets a black ring around it. The black ring represents that the scenes are all in his day dream he is having. Alot of the "black ring" scenes move in freeze frame further supporting that its a day dream. He goes through the house and notices odd things like the water running and the phone off of the hook. He makes it out back and then sees his girlfriend/wife on the ground aparently after have a serious accident of sorts. Some people see this as her having a miscarriage because she was holding her stomach, but I believe she herself is mortally wounded. The reason I think this is because after the sequence were he is trying to help her, it shows several pictures of her, like he is remembering her. It also shows a scene where he is dresses up in a suit and tie and puts flowers on the chair (the same chair that was shown knocked over in her death scene). I think he is dressed up because he just came back from her funeral to his now empty house. And then is cuts back to the front porch. The black ring disapears and his girlfriend/wife comes out the front door. After having this day dream he realizes how much she means to him and immediatly hugs her and is happy to see her. Some peopel think she looks pregnant standing up in this scene, but to me, it looks as if the wind was simply blowing up her dress. She looks skinny when she is hugging him. The lyrics and the video work very well together. Very good stuff. |

| Unwritten Law – Seein' Red Lyrics | 24 years ago |
|
I see this song a little bit differently than what has been posted so far. Maybe its just from personal experiance, but here goes. I see it as a guy who has always been friends and has had a "thing" for this girl. I see him as a normal guy, and she being a popular and attractive girl. I think he see's a little more than her "just being hot". He see's her as smart and cares for her as a person. Anyways, problem is she keeps going after guys that totally hurt her and just want to be with her because she is attractive. She kind of see's this herself, but the whole "being popular lifestyle" kind of urgers her to continue this. The guy that likes her sees this too and is angry (I'm Seeing red) that while he totally cares for her, she goes for guys that don't care for her. Ands its happening again to him.. Another guy that just wants her because of simple physical attraction. The whole being popular and having to dat the "football player" or "cheerleader" is a totally foriegn concept to the guy (don't have much time for sympathy Cuz it never happened to me). He is just telling her "Look go get hurt again, just to fit in with your clique maybe when you get hurt anough you will wake up!" (So follow the leader down, And swallow your pride and drown, When theres no place left to go , Maybe thats when you will know). He knows she is smarter than that, and she kind of realizes the stupid vainess of it all and how he really cares for her as a person. (You feelin blue now, I think you bit off more than you could chew, And now it's time to make a choice, And all I wanna hear is your voice) I see the whole second verse as where he confronts her about this. He is saying "Look I know I'm not in your little group, and I know you better than how you act around them. Stop pretending to be something your not. Stop fighting what you feel for me." But all she does is shy away from him and continue saying the same stuff she always says. He would give anything to break the cycle and have a chance with her, but he knows she'll just do it again. And the last verse he wraps it up. He says this whole thing is a mess, and that he doesn't know how long he can wait for her to come to her senses (You Feelin down I don't know where I'll be when you come around) So here I am again. Take me or go with your vain, shallow crowd and date the guy of the moment and get hurt... Again... |
