Just bought "In The Beginning", their two earlier releases on one CD, and finally got a chance to hear this song...and I think its one of the finest songs they've writen.
A very positive messeage as well, fuck oppressive religious doctrine! |

Ummmm....no.
What the hell are you talking about?
This song came out on the Antichrist Superstar album, which came out many years (about 5 years) before that shit band Papa Roach even put out their first shitty album.
The songs have not one iota of a similarity.
Your likening of "Dead Cell" to "Little Horn" is foolish ignorance
Perhaps if you seemed like you knew what you were talking about I might consider your point to be valid....but alas, you seem to know nothing, you must've never even heard one Manson song in your life to think that Manson would have ANYTHING in common with a fucking shitty, whiney, no-talent rap-rock/pop group like cock sucking Papa Roach.

Well "hardcore" is essentialy just a new form of thrash-metal. Very early Metallica-esque sound. And to some extent also a good bit of Slayer...well thats what I hear anyway. To me KSE are a metal band, but it really doesn't matter what style they play or who their influences are...its just damn good music, nothing more. |

In an interview with...I think it was Rolling Stone magazine, Manson said the lyrics were based on a dream he had where entertainment took presidence over all...I think it was late '96 or early to mid-'97 when he said that, not quite sure. |

I adore the sort-of ackapellea "back stage version" of this song at the begining of "Maximum Video", their live DVD/VHS, really emphisises how good the lyrics are and how amazing Chris Barnes' voice trully is. |

Love the opening drum part. I don't know why but I think this describes one of their live shows, and it does it quite well...they do fucking rip it, every time they play. |

Having heard the original version, I can confidently say that SFU's twisted version is 100 times better, and I usually don't like their cover songs so thats saying alot....but I do also like their take on "TNT". |

It is about something...upon reading it a couple times, I have come to the conclusion that its about murder/torture, a common subject among SFU's lyrics, as well as most other death metal acts. |

I compared them to old Metallica...when they made decent music, if you listen some of the opening parts to some of their songs do sound alot like stuff off of "Ride the Lightning", and a few of their songs sound like left-overs fron "...and Justice for All". Yes they do sound like a bit of Machinehead. They aren't completely original, KSE is a really great band but they do have a bit of those two band's sounds as well as many other bands in their music. And they arent hardcore, "Alive or Just Breathing" is a Metal album (with Hardcore influences), their earlier work may be hardcore but like it or not they are very much a Metal band, based on that album. |

Wow, I liked this song alot before I knew the words...but now I fucking love it.
I think it sort of points out how "children's" cartoons glorify violence and hardly no one seems to piss a bitch about it. Then they get mad when some fruit in a TV show shots some people or some 'artist' writes lyrics about some taboo subject..then they get their protest signs out and sing "Cumbaya" all night long.
I know thats reading a little too much into it, and the lyrics don't seem to be that deep, but thats what I think the messege tey were trying to get across. And its fucking funny as hell. |

This is about how nothing last forever, everyone dies and all man's acheivements eventually fall in the face of the elements....or something like that.
Its also descibed with this old saying: "Nothing last forever but the Earth and Sky".

I'm glad Kittie ditched that teenie-bopper shit from "Spit" and started writting half-way listenable songs like this one and the rest on "Oracle".
I see this as being about standing up for yourself and doing unto others what they've done to you...probably not though.

You just don't get it. Death Metal really isn't about profound lyrics, if it was I'm sure they'd sing so you could understand...to me its about straight-up anger that hasn't been watered down by record execs and public relations people that are trying to get something to be so dumbed-down the majority will consume it to the point of gluttony.
...And you chose to critice a band for saying they are better than all the pop-bullshit...yet you did the exact same thing you criticised....a little bit ironic, isnt it?

It says in the 'Huanted" lbum credits that its dedicated to a guy named Mark Hauser. I'm only speculating here but this song seems to be about drug abuse, in paticular; heroin. So that guy must've been a fried of Chris' that died from heron abuse. Again, only speculation. |

This is a fuckig great song! It show SFU's strength, which I think are the rythms and beats, not playing super fast or having 10 guiar solos in one song. Just a constant, and very good beat to bang your head to.
Not to mention its a catchy tune, I dare anyone to listen to it and not hum this song all day long. And the lyrcs are sick. |

To address namelessdkl: Kill I Oughta is good but its Mud in it's infancy, very raw and unfocused...unlike the masterpiece that is L.D. 50.
Mudvayne grew-up and evolved (as all good bands do) between the two albums. They kept the good parts and expelled the bad to become even more of a kick ass band.

I think the singer said he didn't follow any specific faith but more closely identified with the Bhudist aproach to religion, something about taking in different ideas from all religions, or something like that. Don't remember where I heard that but it might've been on Roadrunner's site. |

That is exactly what Mutter is about, its what the band said, and you can sort of tell that from the music, because if the child's voice in the background, and the theme of the album....which odd as it may seem, is German fairy tales. |

emodave's comment is so beyond wrong that isnt even worth my time to try and point out how utterly ignorant of musical ability he must be to say that Mushroomhead have no talent.....its almost laughable at how he must have spent all night trying to come up with something clever to say, but thats all he could think up....actually its more sad than laughable.

I laughed my ass off when I heard this song...."here I sit, with the shit - here I be , with the pee",

Fantastic song, simply amazing....one of their very best.
Its basciclly about how to some exent everyon's a slave, weather it be to a specific idea or to another person.
A little like that Marilyn Manson lyric - "Everybody's someone else's nigger, I know you are so am I"
Same idea but expressed much more eloquently...again,a really good song.

must every tool song be about something?its interesting to know what a song is about but cant greatness be left alone to be great without everyone adding their two cents in,everyone has an oppinion, they have a right to share their oppinions but part of tool's greatness is the mystery behind their songs,so i say let the mystery be shrouded in darkness forever,i like it better that way. |
