Size 14 are a pop/punk rock band from the late 1990's based out of Hollywood that gained some notoriety with the song "Claire Danes Poster". This song appeared on the Dude, Where's My Car? soundtrack; other Size 14 songs appeared on movies such as Sugar & Spice, 100 Girls, and 100 Women.
They released one self-titled album on Volcano Entertainment in 1997 and influenced later bands such as Nerf Herder and Bowling for Soup.
Size 14 started after Linus answered an ad placed by Robt Ptak in the Recycler magazine looking for a second guitarist or bassist for his band Artificial Joy that already had industry interest. After Ptak, being impressed by Lunis's ability as a player Ptak took the time to listen to a rough demo of a song Linus had called "Fudge". Ptak suggested the two of them form two bands, given the quality of both of their material. They agreed and immediately after guitarist Kevin Danczak (Linus's roommate at the time) joined Size 14.
Linus and Ptak demoed many of the bands most popular songs in Ptak's 8-track home studio. Linus being the main writer with Ptak adding melodies, lyrics, instrumental parts as well as serving as a catalyst for the material over all. All members added parts and contributed to the material as the songs were sorted out further at rehearsals and later recording sessions.
Drummer Dave Armstrong initially moved to LA to be in Robt Ptak's band Artificial Joy; Armstrong recorded drum tracks for some of this material. Ptak already having label interest and airplay on KROQ in Los Angeles felt he did not need to play live shows so he asked Armstrong to join Size 14 as their drummer as well.
Linus stated in an interview that the track "Rollin in the 510" was about Kevin's old car. The song "Prototype" is based on Kevin Danczak. Size 14's sound came from the influence of other local LA bands at the time such as Ridel High, Shufflepuck, That Dog, and Weezer as well as the taste of the all of the band members and their input.
Size 14 officially split in 1998, although the band remained very inactive from late 1997 onwards. This was after founding member Robt Ptak left the band to move to NYC, along with the bands record label Volcano Entertainment going out of business. Ptak was replaced by Ray who only's studio appearance was on the track 'Mrs Claus'.
