Well she went away for the holidays
Said she's goin to LA
But she never got there
She never got there
Never got there
They say yeah, oh oh

Well she went away for the holidays
Said she's goin to LA
But she never got there
She never got there
Never got there
They say yeah, oh oh

The KKK took my baby away
They took her away
Away from me

The KKK took my baby away
They took her away
Away from me

Hey! Ho! Hey! Ho

Wonder where my baby could be
They took her from me
Took her from me

Wonder where my baby could be
They took her from me
Took her from me

Ring me, ring me, ring me
The president
And find out where my baby went
Ring me, ring me, ring me
The FBI
And find out if my baby's alive

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah yeah yeah
Whoa, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Well she went away for the holidays
Said she's goin to LA
But she never got there
She never got there
Never got there
They say yeah, oh oh

Well she went away for the holidays
Said she's goin to LA
But she never got there
She never got there
Never got there
They say yeah, oh oh

The KKK took my baby away
They took her away
Away from me

The KKK took my baby away
They took her away
Away from me

The KKK took my baby away
They took her away
Away from me

The KKK took my baby away
Took my baby
They took my baby away

how can you say this is better than the ramones? the ramones played it the way they wanted it, and it rocked! this is nothing compared to the ramones...this band wouldn't be around if it weren't for the ramones and bands like them!

wow, i'm sorry guys but you can't knock the Ramones...their version is definatly the best. it's just not the same without the crazy accents and that Ramones feel. but i must say this is one of my fav mxpx covers, right up there with "should i stay or should i go?" originally by the clash. now that clash cover is good, but also not better than the orginal...but i think strummer (RIP) would be pleased with it. sadly though, i'm pretty sure mxpx never recorded it...oh well, i saw it live...it was great

i saw them play it live, too. thats actually how i got into the clash. God bless MxPx! They wouldn't be around without the Ramones. Neither would most punk bands.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
