I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

@Andjelina pretty obvious - he met a girl in a bar, she wanted to come with him, and she did, but when he wanted to keep going she decided she missed her home and family - so she left him and he went on alone - he looked at the hawk soaring and said that is me - and then at the first star - saying next time he meets someone special he'll get it right... Kind of a play of wish upon a star... <br />
@Andjelina That’s my favorite part of the song… the grand climax! I don’t think it’s obvious at all, especially with his angst throughout the entire song, even before the met the girl. Perhaps he was getting away from a failed part of his life when he first headed out. It seems to speak to a more general tendency of humans to screw things up and yet striving to make things better.
