I want to thank you my friend For making me feel worthwhile Sweeter than the honey of your lips and kindness in your smile hand in hand we float across the room Explosions deep inside Cheek to cheek, there's clouds under my feet There's only you and I

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU LIKE DOES THAT FEEL NICE GIVE ME A SIGN IF YOU LOVE IT I CAN DO IT AGAIN WE'VE GOT THE REST OF THE NIGHT TO GET IT RIGHT PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU LIKE IF THAT FEELS NICE GIVE ME A SIGN IF YOU LOVE IT I CAN DO IT AGAIN WE'VE GOT THE REST OF OUR LIVES TO GET IT RIGHT

Lookin' back on lonely nights Searching for love again I never knew my journey began And ended with you my friend Softer than your butterfly kisses And stronger than my desire I want to thank you my friend For making me feel alive

I'll never mess it up again Won't let it slip like grains of sand Through careless fingertips because I'm a man who understands Though burned by the fire I can learn to feel the light again and listen I can hear your demands I know I can do it give me one more chance Baby here I am

GIVE ME A SIGN IF YOU LOVE IT I CAN DO IT AGAIN WE'VE GOT THE REST OF OUR LIVES TO GET IT RIGHT

I'm the ONLY one commenting? Really? This song brings to mind a picture of two old friends who have finally found each other once again. The line "we've got the rest of our lives to get it right" suggests that what they are trying to 'get right' is not only the obvious but also their lives and relationship in general.

I thought this was about a couple trying to figure out what the other one likes and enjoys (if you know what I mean) Great catchy chorus.

This is my ALL time favorite Darren Hayes song EVER. I cannot imagine what this must have been like to be Darren's significant other at the time. I think it's really just a song about being in love. And being so truly in love in every sense of the word that all you want to do is please that person. You want to give them exactly what they want and what you feel they deserve. This song makes me want to cry and cry because it's so thoughtful and romantic. It is thought to be that typically men just want to satisfy their desires while having sex, but in this song, Darren really proves that he just wants to step back, learn exactly what his lover wants of him, and he just wants to please her again and again because he cares for her so much. I love it. I hope one day someone feels the same way towards me that Darren felt when he wrote this beautiful song.

This song is delightful...I remember LOVING it. The way it's written is so naive yet powerful, especially when he says : "I'll never mess it up again, won't let it slip like grains of sand through careless fingertips, because I'm a man who understands, tough burned by the fire I can learn to feel the light again and listen, I can hear your demands I know I can do it, give me one more chance Baby here I am, oh..." Those lines just get me, talk about a guy that probably was wrong in the past but learned that this person was really worth anything, which is willing to give right now. This song used to fill me up with hope, it made me dream about the way I wanted love to be for me...just pleasing and give your all without hesitation. Even better if it was with my best friend at the time, who I always felt was too much for me and romanticized him in my head. Since this song talks about "I never knew my journey began and ended with you my friend", it made me smile to think that maybe eventually we would end up together again. We did, but it was nothing like this song! :(

Like you, Miss, I'm just waiting for that kind of love to come to my life, when we are both ready to give and please the other. Sometimes I'm scared such a magical thing won't happen to me again (but healthy this time). But I guess I have to believe.

It will happen for you girl! It will! Just be patient with me. I am also scared out of my mind that I'll never experience this with anyone. But, I can't dwell on that. I too, felt the same way about the journey beggining with a friend. As we've learned our situations are so similar. It gives me hope, but I don't want to be a fool any longer. I should face the facts, but pathetic hope keeps me thinking it might still happen. I cannot let go of him it seems, just like I cannot let go of this song. I also cannot express how much I love this song. It's my favorite song in the entire world. The other day after I wrote that little blurb, I put "Spin" in and listened to this song. I broke down completely and just cried for like a half an hour as I played it over and over. It was a mix of self-pity and a little hope. I dunno, I just hope things will turn around. This song is still the most beautiful thing I've ever heard in my life. We've mentioned before that we love how he reffers to his lover as his "friend". My favorite line is when he says "I'd do it all again, any time for my friend, please tell me!" I just LOVE that. Also when he says, "I wanna thank you my friend, for making me feel worthwhile/alive". Those lines get me every single time... it's unreal. The fact that he speaks to her as though she is the only person in the world, "there's only you and I..." and that she is his best friend as well as his lover and soul-mate. That is truly the epitome of love. Unreal! There are countless reasons why I can never get enough of this song.

Ohh yes, I feel that. It continues striking me as well!. "I wanna thank you my friend, for making me feel worthwhile/alive": that's just wow... I didn't got that ad libs at the end, "I'd do it all again, any time for my friend, please tell me!", thanks!!. I know what you mean, you love the song but sometimes it keeps holding you back. I wish I didn't link songs with people and moments so much, because a lot of beloved melodies are stained by the way I was feeling back then; and I cannot listen to them unless I want to be taken back to the past or cry myself out. I cry a lot to Darren's songs, sometimes because of my memories and regrets, but also because of what I dream of and that looks out of reach so far, or because it's too good to be truth...like this one.

It will happen for BOTH of us. Let's wait and see!! :p

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
