I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

wow... i use to listen to this song on repeat too. This is probably my favorite my ruin song.. it use to mean a lot to me because it reminded me sooo much of someone I once knew. A lot of her emotional songs by that time was about Lynn Strait, Snot singer who died in 1998. They were in a relationship by some point and I guess his death really got her.
There are some references in this song that lead me to think it's about him, like "I can hear you singing, face on fire", and "Every night I would watch you, I would watch you watching me" > he was a singer like her and they used to do some concerts together. In Rockstar, that is explicitly about him, she also mentions his blue eyes ("Blue skies your eyes").
Now, maybe he cheated on her while he was still alive (obviously) and this song is about it? Idk, but I always thought this one is about him.
