And we hide behind,
Lies, anger, Hate they shoo love away,
Build shells of ourselves outside,
It shelters body from cold reigns of reality,

Come on, Step out, of your rind, assemble strength, focus,

Release and run to me you can never look back to the visions from the
past they fade and wilt in time,
You've got to just trust me to hold your hand through,
Then I turn and walk away,

Eclipse you,
And bleed you strip you of your states of ain soph aur,
Eclipse you,
I spit up on my plate and I push everything away,
I need,
And we sever all ties,
It creates disruption midst circle of friends,
I become the sacrifice,
Spare your life and leave me to my misery,

Get off the cross, and save yourself, run away

Run now get away from me if I can get my grip I'll pull you down into
the hell I call my head you'll never get away
I sit down in my ugly place and build walls out of fragments from my
past of all the people that I needed and loved that walked away,

You've got to just trust me to hold your hand through then I'll turn
and walk away

I walk under the clouds of gray,
Sphere of storms in my head,

I'm trapped again in endless rain
I divorce the thoughts of you I love with me,
I divorce your innocence and my guilt,
I divorce the lying sellout confidence,
I'm divorcing every mother fuckin' thing
I divorce the love bled meaningless,
I divorce the makeshift harmony,
I divorce the taunting acts of violence,
I divorce the pastime of jealousy,
I divorce control,
I divorce the faith,
I divorce the virtue,
I divorce the rain,
I divorce the excuse,
I divorce the greed,
I divorce the need,
I divorce iniquity in this mother fuckin' bullshit life,
Just want it all to go away,
Just want to run away to die, take it, myself, my life
Text book fucking mental, off me and pitch me in a hole

I'll always be your shadow,
And veil your eyes from states of ain soph aur,
I can't be the hero anymore,
I spit up on my plate and then I turn and walk away,
I spit up on my plate and I disrupt the family,
I spit up on my plate and I sever the entity,
And I feel your warm sun on my face
Separate .

Eclipse you and bleed you strip you of your states of ain soph aur,
I need you,
It's always been this way, I push it all away,
From me

My view of this song is this...

The person is speaking to someone they love and care for. They are saying at first, they believe they can help this other person. Come to find out, they are a poison for this person. All that the speaker is good for in the other persons life is darkness and misery. So with the speaker knowing this, he/she is cutting ties to save the other person while telling them to go find their light. hence, "i divorce the thoughts of you in love with me, i divorce YOUR innocence and MY guilt."

All the different interpretations of this song are so interesting. I guess it's all in your own experiences. To me this song has always had one clear meaning that struck me from the first listet.

It seems to me that this is about societal martyrdom. He has deeply cares for someone, who doesn't feel quite the same. Bu he feels that the more he suffers for them, (in my interpretation, it is a girl) the better a person he is, and the more she will care for him. "take my hand...I'll..walk away" He thinks that he needs to suffer, and begs for her to use him for help, and when its all over, he will leave so as not to burden her. But he ends up unable to deal with the emotional pain he inflicts upon himself, he spirals deep into a depression that he cannot get himself out of, and turns into an emotional monster. The one who he cares for sympathizes him and shows kindness in return by wanting to help. He can't handle this rare show of affection and pleads with her to leave him so that he doesn't drag her down with him.

The shell he talks about in the beginning is the facade that he wears in public so people don't see how he really feels, but inside, he is emotionally distraught. When he is singing about divorce, he is giving up. He wants to shrink into absolute nothingness, devoid of possesions and responsibilities. By the end, where the song slows down, he is realizing that he can't just quit her, and no matter how distraught he is, he will always be their to protect her, even though he has so much negativity, and so many self destructive tendencies.

The whole song is very passive aggressive, and also very co-dependent. My theories on this go much further in depth, but I'm not trying to write an essay here.

    Song Meaning

As with a couple of songs on L.D. 50, this song appears to me to be religiously focused. Only because I've gone through an experience like this personally, it sounds like Chad was perhaps raised on religion (some form of Christianity) and all of the would-be loving and caring attributes of it. At some point, he sees through the BS of the belief and in that, his realization ends up making him an outcast from all of his friends and loved ones who are believers. Mention of "the cross" and "AIN SOPH AUR" are religious references. Read about AIN SOPH here: altreligion.about.com/library/texts/bl_secretteachings30.htm

Everything mentioned in the "I divorce..." passage of the song are clearly topics he had issues with and decided he had to let them go. Naturally, there are some pretty deep things in that passage but amongst them are faith. Because I've personally experienced loved ones turning their backs on me because of religious differences, this is the level I'm connecting with this song on and it makes complete sense to me. This sums it up quite well: "Spare your life and leave me to my misery." It's as though he's telling whoever he's talking to to continue focusing on their salvation while leaving him to the misery of having to deal with the nail it drives between them.

Yes, by far the best! Ummmm, not exactly sure on the meaning, like all songs it means different things to different people and I'm not sure how Mudvayne wrote it. If anyone has any suggestions, would love to hear them

to me, it's about how everyone at one point thinks that no one cares about them, and that if they leave everyone else before everyone else leaves them, it won't hurt as much. again, just my opinion

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
