How much I love Video Dames ain't hard to say

But what is a Video Dame? A girl that games
Hair curled or straight; they make the world so great

Since no one has discussed this, I'm gonna bust this
A fly-ass Video Dame is who I must kiss

An otaku is so fly, cute
Find one to watch Naruto with, I hope I do

Sexy; hotness unreasonable
Cute face and the body is pleasingly full

But it's much deeper than just tits and chest
The girl I'm with's gotta have much intellect

So many mentally lame, as if they're missin' a brain
But this would never happen wit' a Video Dame

A sapiosexual from way back
Master of the game of love; I'm gonna play that

Some call 'em geeks; some call 'em nerds
But it's all a game, so freak what you heard; I'm a...

(Gettin' wit Video Dames and ladies)

Are you a finger on a button? Cuz you turn me on
Yo, on and on 'til the break of dawn

Then the sun will rise, in your wonderful eyes
And your kiss is sweeter than honey and lies

Video Dames might be nerds, but fuck wit' one
And there'll be fightin' words

You see, Video Dames don't always shower enough
Cuz they're steady collectin' them powerups

I don't want a woman that's kind and just
No; I want a woman that'll grind and cuss

Buildin' up levels on the RPG
She ain't a damsel in distress, no; hard she be

She don't let nothin' stop her; no one can top her
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger, get to the chopper

The combination is cute and lethal
You gotta be good if you wanna beat one

The ass is flawless; I'm glad I saw this
I love a girl who is so sassy; lawless

If I gotta be out here in the cold-ass world
I'd rather do it with a bold-ass girl

I'll scrap and battle, so she won't have to
I'm stuck on Video Dames like a tattoo, a...

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
