When you took that ring off, balled it in your fist
Eyes like a smoking gun
Surprised at what you did
So don't even think for one second your following me in
My parents are home, so is my kid
Just go on
That house that you hate
That house that we bought and failed to make

When you took that ring off
I sat there stunned
Parked out in my car
Surprised by what you'd done
The courage that must have took left me utterly speechless
And though it came as no surprise I still couldn't believe it

You'll never be happy
You'll never be happy
But it was all for nothing
Yea it was all a waste
You held on tight and for dear life
But it was all for nothing

When you took that ring off
Threw it at your feet
You didn't say a word
Much less look at me
The courage that must have took I just couldn't believe it
In that moment you were perfect
And it made all the bullshit seem worth it

But it was all for nothing
Yea it was all a waste
You held on tight and for dear life
But it was all for nothing
Yea it was all a waste
You held on tight
(Held on tight)
And for dear life
(For dear life)
But it was all for nothing
(Held on tight and for dear life)
(We held on tight for dear life)
(We held on tight)

So just go on
That house that you hate
That house that we bought and failed to make
It was all for nothing
It was all a waste
And now you'll never be happy
Oh you'll never be happy

'Cause it was all for nothing
It was all a waste
You held on tight and for dear life
But it was all for nothing
Yea it was all a waste
We held on tight
(Held on tight)
And for dear life
(And for dear life)

But it was all for nothing
(Held on tight and for dear life)
(We held on tight)
When you took off that ring
When you took off that ring
(Held on tight)

To me this song is about someone who is doing what they can to better themselves, and everyone is being negative to them because its not what they want. Pretty much a person who knows what they want but its not what others want.

    Song Meaning

i saw tbs just the other day, and the energy dropped in the venue when adam said he was going to sing a song about something that ripped him apart, and the reason he sings this song is part of therapy. he wants listeners to rid their demons whilst listening to this song. its about his real-life ex who left him. he sang with such emotion and it was epic. during the lines, "you'll never be happy" he said, "she ACTUALLY said that to me!" the way he acted out this song highlights that its something very personal to him

To me, this song is about an ex that cheated on him. The lyrics 'when you took that ring off, balled it in your first" might speak about a girl taking off her ring whilst going to meet the person she's having an affair with. People take their wedding rings off to hide their marriage when they go out if they are trying to cheat. "Eyes like a smoking gun, surprised by what you did." Perhaps he's imagining her being surprised that she actually did cheat on him, maybe crying. Maybe the "eyes like a smoking gun" refers to heavy eye makeup. Idk, but it seems clear to me the song is about a girl cheating on him, and thus throwing everything they had together away.

    My Interpretation

Reading through the comments and understanding what Adam was going through in the mid 2000's, we never really were given much info about the split between him and Chauntelle (who broke up with who and why) a lot of posts online just made Adam seem like a bad guy by sleeping with his now wife back when she was still a bartender. So I think this song clarifies a lot about the shadows of the past and kissing it goodbye. I think everything that followed that in his life was very therapeutic and healing for him. Go Adam!!! <3

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
