In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Only 12 years old and already so alone
Left abandoned on a train
You've got a lot to earn but you'll never learn
Powders can't get rid of all your pain
Chased by Keystone cops through LA's endless backdrops
You became loved by the world
But the biggest star is gonna leave the biggest scar
On that pregnant tarnished girl
Fatty, Fatty
The world can turn pineapple upside down cake
Fatty, Fatty
After so many pratfalls this is your prattest
Fatty, Fatty
Your friends will turn on you in a split second
Fatty, Fatty
There's no place for the fattest man hide out
Left abandoned on a train
You've got a lot to earn but you'll never learn
Powders can't get rid of all your pain
Chased by Keystone cops through LA's endless backdrops
You became loved by the world
But the biggest star is gonna leave the biggest scar
On that pregnant tarnished girl
Fatty, Fatty
The world can turn pineapple upside down cake
Fatty, Fatty
After so many pratfalls this is your prattest
Fatty, Fatty
Your friends will turn on you in a split second
Fatty, Fatty
There's no place for the fattest man hide out

Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Holiday
Bee Gees
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
American Town

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
It appears to be referencing both the life of silent film star Rosco "Fatty" Arbuckle and Virginia Rappe, the girl who he was accused of killing. Fatty was the highest paid actor of his generation but lost everything when a young actress at one of his parties died from internal injuries. This lead authorities to believe that she had been violently raped by Arbuckle and despite being aquitted 3 times of the crime the scandal was so huge that he never got his career back on track and lost everything. The first part about the pregnant girl on the train appears to be a reference to Rappe since she had 2 abortions before she was 16. The second references Fatty himself with keystone cops and hollywood backdrops obviously being the making of a silent film. References to pratfalls that were common in the slapstick comedy that he was known for and also his friends turning on him in the chorus make it more clear. Not sure about the pineapple upside down cake.
good info...would have never known this!
From the title you would expect it to be about Fat Mike.
The reference to Only 12 years old is about Arbuckle's mother's death and his father's abandonment and refusal to support him at age 12.

The reference to powder I believe is about his addiction to Morphine. Also the pain reference could be that at the time of the famed party he was suffering from 2nd degree burns on his buttocks.

Not sure about your friends turning on you because most of them stood up for him.

He was more a victim of blackmailer Bambina Maude Delmont,an over jealous DA named Matthew Brady and Citizen Kane himself William Randolph Hearst's media machine.
@RhysHole the world turn upside down pineapple cake could just be a play on words involving food cause he's talking about a guy named fatty who I presume was fat.
Wow so informative... thanks fellas.. Who wouldda though punkers could be so smart :P
