I'm the kid that no one knows
I live a life I never chose
But these thoughts in my mind
Are my own, my own

I'm face to face with the unknown
My scary movie will be shown
I've got one evil mind
Of my own, of my own

We take from one another
And never stop to wonder
How it feels from the other side
Well nothing lasts forever
When stupid turns to clever
Why are you surprised?

Little know it all
Ten bucks in my hand
Little know it all
Don't cry I understand

I'm a target of the smart
They've got ambition I've got heart
Analysed and tagged
Before I start

So tell me
Who can I respect
I feel a leash around my neck
I find out there's shame
In the game

We take from one another
And never stop to wonder
How it feels from the other side
Well nothing lasts forever
When stupid turns to clever
Why are you surprised?

And I feel like
I'm caught outside the box
And I feel like
I'm sleeping when I'm not

(Lookin' for the real thing)
(Lookin' for the real thing)

We take from one another
And never stop to wonder
How it feels from the other side
Well nothing lasts forever
When stupid turns to clever
Why are you surprised?

Little know it all
Ten bucks in my hand
Little know it all
Don't cry I understand
Little know it all
Ten bucks in my hand
Don't cry I understand

You'll never know it all

    My Interpretation

I heard this song in the clip of the cage and the road. Thought it was only Iggy Pop and then found it was with Sum 41. WTF?! I found weird before, that this song sounds more "modern" than I'm used to hear from other Iggy songs.

Anyway, Feliciano2040 said well, but is a very short answer. It seems about how people naturally have two sides and you are only able to see one and also about how things can be turned inside out after some time. I've never been a huge Iggy fan to be honest, but I remember a girl telling me he was the dexter guy, doing everything right. After some experiences, he started to be that guy rolling over broken glass... And both ones are real, but you only see one side and believes that's all you have to know about him.

This lyrics seem to be also, much about this: "I live a life I never chose". "And I feel like I'm sleeping when I'm not

    Looking for the real thing".

How can you even dream with the life you want if you walk underneath a blanket? Like, there is a whole world inside begging to just pop out and explode and there is no sight of chance for that to happen?

Great lyrics, great song! Can relate to this 100%! Cheers!

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
