At first I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking how could I never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights just thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong
And I learned how to get along

And now your back from outer space
Just turn around
'Cause your not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to break me with good-byes?
Did you think I'd crumble?
Did you think I'd lay down and die?

Oh no now go
Walk out the door
Don't turn around now
Cause your not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to break me good-bye?
Did you think I'd crumble?
Did you think I'd lay down and die?

Oh, no, not I
I will survive
For as long as I know how to love
I know I'll stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
I will survive
I will survive

Gotta make a move to town that's right for me
Gotta keep me movin'
Keep me groovin' with some energy

Talk about it, talk about it, talk about it, talk about it
Talk about it, talk about it, talk about moo-ving

Gotta move on, gotta move on, gotta move on

Won't you take me to funkytown
Won't you take me to funkytown

Last dance, the last dance for love
Yes it's my last chance for romance tonight

Wo-o
I need you by me
Beside me to guide me
To hold me
To scold me
But when I'm bad I'm so, so bad

So let's dance the last dance
So let's dance the last dance
So let's dance the last dance tonight

Let's dance the last dance for love
It's my last chance for romance tonight

Wo-o
I need you by me
Beside me to guide me
To hold me
To scold
But when I'm bad I'm so, so bad

So let's dance the last dance
So let's dance the last dance
So let's dance the last dance tonight

Do the hustle

Someone found the letter you wrote me on the radio
And it said exactly how you felt
It must have fallen out of a hole in your old brown overcoat
It never said your name, but I knew who they meant

I was so surprised and shocked and I wondered too
If by chance you heard for yourself
I never told a soul just how I've been feeling over you

But they said it really loud
They said it on the air
On the radio
W-o-o-o
On the radio
W-o-o-o
On the radio
W-o-o-o
On the radio
W-o-o-o
On the radio

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation.
