The line "Remember me to one who lives there, she once was a true love of mine" was also used in the song Scarborough Fair, arranged by British songwriter Martin Carthy, who was Bob Dylan’s friend. Scarborough Fair, made famous by Simon and Garfunkel, is a traditional English ballad, arranged in this case by Paul Simon who also heard it from Carthy. The original ballad had different lyrics so of course each time it was arranged by another songwriter, the ballad presented different perspectives.
