I'll take it out of the wishing well, I'm thinkin' I have a plan
Go on with your bad self, what do you see in yourself?
You think you're losin', it's time to stop accusin'
You're never gonna take a hit on the head
Now, if you don't care, take a ride somewhere

Hey, it has somethin' you want to try and buy yourself
Hey, it has somethin', it goes 'round and 'round again
Go, go, you should've never wasted your lung
Go, go, and the ride was shared

Go, limo
Go, limo

I guess you're stuck in the Habitrail, you gotta love this shit
Way out on a back shelf, you'll never know what you did
Look what you're doin', now mama said it's ruined
You had a mollusk in the palm of your hand
So, it's a bad smell, your ass won't win

Hey, it has somethin' you wanna try and buy yourself
Hey, it has somethin', it goes 'round and 'round and 'round again
Go, go, you never have been away so long
Go, go, and the ride was shared
Go, go, whatever happened to DayGlo thongs?
Go, go, and the ride was shared

Go, limo
Go, limo
Yeah, all right

Whoa

These are the "official" lyrics that were in the lyric booklet on the Japanese release…..

I'm drinking out of the wishing well I break a night on the bend get off with your bad self round up the seed and stem you think you're losing the jaundice I've been using You never gonna take a hit on the head Right on if it don't fit Then you're eyes turn red

Hey ain't that something You gonna try and buy a sin Hey ain't that something It's going round and round again

Go go You shouldn't have to wait so long Go go And the right one said

    Go limo Go limo

I got you stuck on a habitrail You crawled along and you said Way down on the back shelf You never meant what you bled Look what you're doing the marmoset is ruined You had the mollusk in the palm of your hand So long it's a mad swell Jorma for the win

Hey ain't that something You gonna try and buy a sin Hey ain't that something It's going round and round again

Go go You shouldn't have to wait so long Go go And the right one said Go go Whatever happened to day glow thongs Go go And the right one said

Go limo Go limo Yeah All right

    My Opinion

I love that Dave put the word "Habitrail" in a song.

i'm thinking it's about a rock start who parties hard with a fellow rock star but then sees his fellow star falling into the drug life style a bit to hard so he's going to move on by himself and keep on partying. regardless, this is my favorite track off of wasting light, and i'm so effin stoked to see them live again.

dave grohl is the closest thing we have to a true "rock god" these days....except maybe josh homme, but they are the them crooked vultures together so it's all good.

Yeah, i'll be honest it's hard to make the lyrics out as Grohl's screaming in this one. I'm pretty sure the Chorus is right, but the verses sound a bit... eh.

yeah some of the lyrics seem a little off... i love this song though, and the video clip is hilarious. so good but i found that bits of this song reminded me of the stuff from the first album...especially the song Weenie Beenie. :D

Jorma is a nickname in Finland. Jorma for the win? What? Jorma is also a name for penis here

This is an amazing song though. I think the lyrics don't matter at all, they just had to put some cool nonsense in there hahah..

I really don't know why but the lyrics make me think of rough sex...damn, sorry people

i think its got something to do with rockstar lifestyle, similar to stacked actors. 'the ride was shared' makes me think hes talking about all the band went through the pains of fame with him. other parts could be a hate letter to business types and drug dealers, and just people in general that kiss your ass cos your famous. but i could be way off.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
