Well, I, I, wanna fly, fly
On the wings, wings of summer
But you, you put your eyes
You put your eyes on mine

Go, perfect your fall
And no matter what
Smile for them all
For today, we see never
Tomorrow's menu reads forever

I, I wanna fly
On the wings, of summer
But you, put your eyes, on mine
I, I want to fly
On the wings of summer
But you, you put your eyes, on mine

Don't confess to the crime
'Til you lavish in your concubine
When you think you got clever
They'll wheel you in and pull the lever

Now I, I want to fly
On the wings, of summer
But you, put your eyes, on mine
Now I, I'm going to fry
'Cause I ran over the guy with a Hummer
But you, put your eyes, eyes on the divine
Now I, I want to fly, fly on the wings of summer
But you, you put your eyes, you put your eyes on mine

When you think that it's all over
They'll clip your wings and make you roll over
To perfect your great fall
No matter what smile for them all
For today we see never
Tomorrow's menu reads forever
For today we see never
Tomorrow's menu reads

    My Interpretation

My interpenetration if this song is of a man who is about to be executed via the electric chair, this is made evident to me through the lines "They'll wheel you in and pull the lever" and "Now, I, I'm going to fry". The man want's to forget about what is about to happen and have a last moment of happiness before he dies, and this happiness he has called the "Wings of Summer". He want's to achieve this happiness, but he opens his eyes before he dies and looks into the eyes of the woman he loves, and she is sad, and this makes him remember that he is about to die, and he can not achieve his last moment of happiness. I think that the reason that he is being executed is that he made a small mistake and this mistake had dire consequences. "Cause I ran over the guy with a Hummer", this line led me to believe that he did something bad, such as "ran over the guy with the hummer", a very big car, and this mistake led to big consequences, because the guy with the hummer has a bigger car and can deal more damage to him, and maybe this is why he is in the electric chair. This is just my interpretation, thank you for reading.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
