My Cherokee, My Cherokee
Who else could it, could it be?
My Cherokee, My Cherokee, My Cherokee

I wish I was with you here tonight
We both know it was never right
I still think about you everyday
And how you laugh at what I say.

My Cherokee, My Cherokee
Who else could it, could it be?
My Cherokee, My Cherokee, My Cherokee

I love you right when I heard your name
I had no choice, you are to blame
Forgive my sins, I cannot quit
I guess you'll just get used to it.

My Cherokee, My Cherokee
Who else could it, could it be?
My Cherokee, My Cherokee, My Cherokee

I'll bring you peace in what I steal
Don't look at my eyes, they are too real
Forget the law that I used to quote
I lost my heart in what they wrote.

My Cherokee, My Cherokee
Who else could it, could it be?
My Cherokee, My Cherokee, My Cherokee

Forget the man that brought you down
Be my queen and take your crown
I think the time is finally here
When I can love without fear.

My Cherokee, My Cherokee
Who else could it, could it be?
My Cherokee, My Cherokee, My Cherokee

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
