Call it art, call it cult.
Trudy was a friend of all
Call her eyes such a fright, she's sailing on a wave of light
Oh Trudy, Trudy
She just called to tell me
We've got names on every door
She's in self destruct mode
For one big night to end it all
Oh Trudy
You're with the meanest boy in the hills
I know he's groovy, but he only loves you when he's on pills
And you can call it what you wanna call it
You know it's disco biscuit love
Well, Trudy walks a different road. Truly she would try it all.
Leave your head in the cloakroom, and leave your heart at the door
Oh Trudy, Trudy
You touch the untouchable
Cos this love is no fun at all
Now when Cindy plays at the disco
I don't see you on the floor
Oh Trudy,
You're with the meanest boy in the hills
I know he's groovy, but he only loves you when he's on pills
And it's that heart of yours
It's not your body that makes you ill
Your so sick with this disco biscuit love
She's falling from grace at the disco. She's out of her place at the disco
I saw your face in the crowd. I called out but the beat's too loud
I saw your face in the crowd. I know it's gonna be alright
Oh Trudy,
You're with the meanest boy in the hills
I know he's groovy, but he only loves you when he's on pills
And it's that heart of yours
It's not your body that makes you ill
Your so sick with this disco biscuit love
Now she's falling asleep at the disco
Who's falling asleep at the disco
Now she's falling asleep at the disco
Who's falling asleep?

Well for starters, this is a great song. one quick reference is the 'meanest boy in the hills' hills refering to sydney in which alot of the landscape is built on up and down hills. disco biscuit obviously refers to ecstacy. This song (in my eyes) is about a friend who is selling herself short to a guy that is obviously using her. The singer or writer is worried about her and doesn't like the way she's being treated.

great song. "hurt me"'s great aswell

Maybe this is too simple, but on the most simple level i can muster i see a friend worried sick about a girl and what she's going through for this guy. I don't see 'Trudy' as a pathetic girl just longing after a guy, maybe she's really intelligent but he's her achillies heel...

listened to this song over a 1000 times and it does not get old! i always can realate the story back to my life.. this girl has an unrequited crush on a grrovy boy from the hills (hippy unt) who comes to her for sex when he is high. she is sick with his disco biscuit love and this ultimately sees her to her demise.

    My Interpretation

This song, I feel, is pretty easy to decipher. Trudy is a girl who is using drugs. Namely, ecstasy. The singer is one of her friends who is becoming more distant from her as she falls more into the drug scene. "The meanest boy in the hills" is the guy she's with or guys she's hooking up with at parties who "only love you when he's on pills" because ecstasy makes you feel more intimate with someone. Basically, they don't really love her. "Trudy" may find them "groovy" to hang out with, but in the end it is not true.

Nah, I don't see it as any kind of overdose, I took it to mean she's partying all the time and not getting any sleep, so she falls asleep at the disco. I've lived this kind of life, and it fits very well. Never know when it'll hit you and you just konk out.

    My Interpretation

I think it's about a raver girl who's super into her raver bf. The both go to these events and take molly/ecstasy/MDMA and experience that "disco biscuit love", that connection you feel while on that stuff. It gets old when it doesn't translate over into real life.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
