A lonely lifetime is never easy,
Constant struggle falls on you alone,
Proud to say that my friends have been there,
My support when all things go wrong,
This song is for those who I know,
Will be be there until I breathe my last,
Keep your head up when things seem their darkest,
Always know that i've got your back.

There we're so many times before,
I've been crushed under strife,
My friends were there to pick up me up,
And get me back in line,
Be sure that there are times in life,
Much worse than some,
But in the end if you are with me,
I will overcome.

Through all the good and all the bad,
We are all we ever had,
I'll look out for you,
If you look out for me (Look out for me!)
When I was down and and almost out,
You never let me hit the ground,
I am not afraid to call you family (Family!)

I dedicate this song,
To those who matter most,
Everyone who would be there for me,
It's for you that these words were wrote. (x2)

We face this life together,
Standing arm to arm,
If one of us goes down,
The others will take up the charge. (x3)

Through all the good and all the bad,
We are all we ever had,
I'll look out for you,
If you look out for me (Look out for me!)
When I was down and and almost out,
You never let me hit the ground,
I am not afraid to call you family (Family!)

No one can stop us,
Together we're stronger!
No one can stop this,
Together we're stronger! (x2)

Through all the good and all the bad,
We are all we ever had,
I'll look out for you,
If you look out for me (Look out for me!)
When I was down and and almost out,
You never let me hit the ground,
I am not afraid to call you family (Family!)

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
