You better take it from me
That boy is like a disease
You're runnin' and tryin' and tryin' to hide
And you're wondering why you can't get free
He's like a curse, he's like a drug
You get addicted to his love
You wanna get out, but he's holding ya down
'Cause you can't live without one more touch

He's a good time cowboy Casanova
Leaning up against the record machine
He looks like a cool drink of water
But he's candy-coated misery
He's the devil in disguise
A snake with blue eyes
And he only comes out at night
Gives you feelings that you don't wanna fight
You better run for your life

I see that look on your face
You ain't hearing what I say
So I'll say it again 'cause I been where ya been
And I know how it ends, you can't get away
Don't even look in his eyes
He'll tell you nothing but lies
And you wanna believe that you won't be deceived
If you listen to me and take my advice

He's a good time cowboy Casanova
Leaning up against the record machine
He looks like a cool drink of water
But he's candy-coated misery
He's the devil in disguise
A snake with blue eyes
And he only comes out at night
Gives you feelings that you don't wanna fight
You better run for your life

Run, run away, don't let him mess with your mind
He'll tell you anything you wanna hear
He'll break your heart, it's just a matter of time
But just remember

He's a good time cowboy Casanova
Leaning up against the record machine
He looks like a cool drink of water
But he's candy-coated misery
He's the devil in disguise
A snake with blue eyes
And he only comes out at night
Gives you feelings that you don't wanna fight
You better run for your life

Oh, you better run for your life
Oh, you better run for your life

    My Interpretation

Well, this song is pretty, pretty obvious. "Carrie" as the narrator (I guess) is obviously trying to forewarn these women who have their sights set on the "Cowboy Casanova" or are being captivated by his charm because she has been in their place before and knows firsthand that this will only end badly for the woman in the situation because the "Cowboy Casanova" only cares about having a good time, he wants to strings attached, but the women want something more and they want to be the one to tame him, but they can't and they only end up in his trap and being manipulated by him. And then the vicious cycle just keeps on repeating itself. Hmm, I almost feel awful for these imaginary women...

Carrie Underwood never disappoints. This song is about a womanizer who's VERY hard to say no to.

I agree with Paige. This song's about a man who's very, very attractive and impossible to resist even though he's a "player" who just goes around breaking hearts. I heard it today for the first time and I was blown away! Amazing~!

This is a really good song. If this is any indication of how the rest of the album is, it's going to be great. :)

This song has definitely grown on me, but I can't STAND the video. How is it gonna be about a cowboy casanova when he's wearing a freakin' beret in the video? come on now.

I don't like the music video either.. But I do like the song.. The first time I heard this song it istantly got my attention because of what I've been through. Every line in this song is pretty much true, && everyone says this song reminds me of them because of the guy I was dating..

I think it's particularly appropriate that she sings this song, considering her past with Tony Romo, who has turned out to be quite the "Cowboy" Casanova. And jerk. She and Jessica should sing it as a duet haha

Oh man, I've run into this guy before! I love the section of lyrics that start off the song. She really hits the nail on the head with what that feels like....you other ladies know exactly what I mean!

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
