I spent the end of the day thinking about the changing of our lives
The kids we were set out to play the music through the songs that gave us drive
And that was only five years ago, it was three last time we sang
about the "dead men" and the rising of a scene we wanted so bad to help make

I was ready, let me let go
Until I heard a shouting from you
Yeah, the very thing I had to
Keep me grounded when I fell through
When death comes for us

Terrible lies I had been pulling out my sides
There were so many of me yelling, cursing, fighting, hitting anger to learn why
I was losing all I'd worked for, I was losing all my friends,
I was losing my own voice coughing a demon bent on break, break, breaking.

I was ready, let me let go
Until I heard a shouting from you
Yeah, the very thing I had to
Keep me grounded when I fell through
I've had my doubts (and I had to run away home)
They drag me down (to try to breathe again on my own)
Built in my head (still I couldn't stand to follow)
I'm burning them down.
The program has a glitch that I don't want now
I am too down to stay with sound that keeps me alive
(You were there to pick me back up)
(My lungs were tired and giving up)
With a loud shout and a heart crowd, (I know your stories will lift me up)
we will roll the die; four, then five,
until we drop. (You never let me drop!)

I drop a 123 over the ground It's broken
This is all our days ahead, this is where I found an open
And longer roads under here where stability isn't half as clear
When I'm trapped alive Here it's the rush that makes it worth it

This will be the death of us, my friends

Meaning from the band: Jordan: My second verse in this song deals with a lot of mixed and confusing thoughts I was having about our band and my own self last year. I began to think of things in a very dark and untrue manner, further disconnecting me not only from Set Your Goals but from my entire life and self as well, all family and friends included. I didn’t know what was going on, and I had suffered depressions like this before, but this time it was serious and it nearly killed me in every way. One of the most important things that helped to pick me back up was Set Your Goals itself, each of the members in it, whom I would not be anything without. The other thing I turned to were stories and emails from our friends and fans who had just as strong an investment in our band as I had. I had to withdraw from my home (this band) to find it again, and I can firmly say there is no other place I’d rather be than right here.

Inspirator and close friend Vinnie Caruana joined us for the closing bridge of the song, and we want to thank him for being a part of this with us. We formed our band and years of touring based on what we learned from people like Vinnie when they would come through on tour with their own music. The general thesis behind the song title is an idea I think anyone involved with music this diehard can relate to, and the 7 of us all together are right here with it. songmeanings.net/songs/view/3530822107858782239/

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
