I don't know where to begin,
Fighting a war I can't win, fighting a memory
Something that used to be,
No matter how hard I fight,
All of my strength and might,
Keeps on defeating me, it just keeps on defeating me.

So what I'm trying to say, I know what's happening,
Your body is here with me,
But your heart and your mind is still with him.

Go back to what you know,
Go back to where you know where your heart is,
Girl, just be honest, this is impossible,
This is impossible, we'll never work cause you don't want it,
Girl, you belong with him so just go back to what you know,
Go back to what you know, because this is impossible.

Telling me things that you two, did when he was with you,
How he was oh so sweet, the way that he used to treat you,
Instead you just can't keep him outta your mind.
Why can't you just tell me that I'm not who you want to be,
Baby you don't want me, no, no, no.

And if that was really what you want,
I will not stand in your way, you want to be free
I will let you be,
I rather you have me, than miserable with me,
Back to what you know,
Back to what you know,
Said back to what you know.

So what I'm trying to say, I know what's happening,
Your body is here with me,
But your heart and your mind is still with him.

So there ain't no need to make those lies
You're stuck in the past,
Pedal to the gas and drive away

This song is pretty much obvious.

a couple. but the girl is always thinking of her ex. so the new boyfriend is getting irritated with her because of it. being compared and hearing memories of her past. toootally messed up, so he decides that it's not going to work. and interprets that what she says to him means that she doesn't want him.

oh neyo, how you amaze me with your songs.

    My Interpretation

    Only 1 comment?!!

I don't necessarily think this song is about Neyo being in a relationship with a girl, maybe it's just him trying to win a girls affections, & maybe she acts like she has the mutual feeling back.

But deep down she's still hung up over her ex, & Neyo knows things won't work with her because he's always gunna be compared to what she's had in the past.

This song really hits home :/ Really sad actually.

Neyo needs to write more material like this! It's better than all that closer garbage he has out. "Your body's here with me But your heart & your mind are still with him Go back to what you know"

I like how He's being the bigger man in the song, basically saying he loves her enough for her to be happy, even if happy doesn't involve him.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
