Did you think you were made for all the things
That felt like a waste
Or has everything led you to be
What you have never foreseen

Everything I see reminds me
Of just how beautiful you can be
I'm waiting for a feeling
That would make love open my eyes
Remind me I'm alive

This Seattle life, it has changed me from the inside
Changed me from the inside
It has magnified all my cries
For something more than fine

Now we see that everything we have
And everything we lack
Is exactly what we need
Every single day
Everything we've made
Has put us in this place in just this way

To me, they're talking about their relationship with God and how you sometimes doubt God and what His plan is, especially when something tragic happens and then realizing that it's all part of a greater plan.

"Did you think you were made for all the things That felt like a waste Or has everything led you to be What you have never foreseen" -Asking himself if he honestly believes he is here just here to be here, and if the things he's experienced have maybe led him to believe in a "higher power" (What you have never foreseen)

"Everything I see reminds me Of just how beautiful you can be I'm waiting for a feeling That would make love open my eyes Remind me I'm alive" -Saying that everything he's experienced reminds him of how God works in mysterious ways but since this "thing" (maybe in the next vurse when he talks about Seattle?) happened, whatever it was, he needs to be reminded of God's plan and reassured that it will all work out (Remind me I'm alive)

"This Seattle life, it has changed me from the inside Changed me from the inside It has magnified my cries For something more than fine"

    • When he says Seattle, he's probably referring to this "thing" that happened, and it's "changed him from the inside" and made him realize how much he longs for God's love (magnified my cries for something more than fine)

"Now we see that everything we have And everything we lack Is exactly what we need Every single day Everything we've made Has put us in this place in just this way" -Coming to the realization that no matter what you have/want/need, there's a reason behind it and that when you're in doubt God shows you there is a reason behind everything that happens.

Kind of confusing, but my mind was moving faster than my fingers.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
