Roll your eyes now. Make you take it away right now. (Right Now!) Not Today!
All white lights up all over me. Take me gracefully.

I see you on the floor. With your face on the ground. (Ground!)
What are we going to do? (What are we going to do?!) The future is slowly dying.
(The future is slowly dying!) And we are already falling. (And we are already falling!)

Cut the tie where the rope beings to fray. You don’t want that anyway.
Those words that you never wanted me to say.
Cut the phone line and better voice decay. She will not be coming anyway.
Not you not today.

These thoughts are falling down the river. Pushing your broken boat to a distant town where the flowers grow back below the ground.

Your lying on telephone lines. All the lies you’ve fed to me have left me oh so hungry.
I’m rooted firmly on my knees as the nails begin to sink into your skin. Im begging you, begging you, begging you!

Your eyes engaging.
Look to make you forward into the ground
She left for good for you.

She’s so cold!

I feel you on the opposite end of this line.
These are the sins that driven us apart. If this is the last time.
I can’t take this anymore.
I can’t take this anymore.
I can’t take this anymore.

She’s so cold.
Like you wouldn’t know.
So think for me, I didn’t know I had. But it’s over now and I’m glad.
Trust like you have never lied. And it’s not like we didn’t tried.
To savor our lives.
To savor our lives.

Your lying on telephone lines. All the lies your feeding me are leaving me so hungry.
And as our lines both sync I think to sit and watch me as I sink. Too bad there is nothing you can do. Cause I am me and Your still you. (You!)

It’s not that your aren’t good enough. Which is far too complex.
That’s what’s she said, always ahead of the rest.
She’s always over it, over it, over it. Oooohhh!
And the way she is pushing me, is driving me crazy

"Cut the phone line, let her voice decay, she will not be calling anyway" "These thoughts are flowing down the river" "These opposites have driven us apart" "Cuz its not like you've ever lied, and it's not like we didn't try to save our own lives, to savor our lives" "You're lying on telephone lines, all the lies you're feeding me are leaving me so hungry, and as the line pulls tight I think" "It's not that you aren't good enough, we're just too complex"

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
